  1. It appears to be dripping off the bumper cover onto the exhaust tip. But that's all I can see by sticking my head under the car. Nothing to be seen from above. Any thoughts? Regards,
  2. I have a coolant leak. Just noticed coolant dripping onto the driver's side exaust tip. Running temps driving hard in a 90 degree day were still cool. So it seems to be a small leak. Also, the light only came on yesterday (in the heat), but not on my 45 minute drive to work this morning (it's much cooler outside). So I think htis leak is related to high temperatures. Of course, laying under the car only taught me that its running down the inside of the bumper cover. I can't otherwise see any obvious places from which it's coming. Anyone?
  3. So,...How do I figure out if it's the tank? I know, check the VIN. What if it's been replaced already? (I'm the second owner). Is there a way i can tell if it's the engine compartment blower? Also, what's involved with changing the tank? Bleeding the system, etc... Thanks so much for the input guys,
  4. Manual says its the engine compartment blower fan. It does not come on all the time, and resets itself when I turn the car off. Thoughts on a DIY? Thanks everyone!
  5. I bought a rotor/pad kit for my M3 that increased the swept area of the pad. Made a huge difference and was actually lighter. Used the stock calipers. I've seen a rotor upgrade for 996 turbo's that enlarges the friction area. Anyone have thoughts on such a thing for NA cars? A 2 piece aluminum hat rotor that increased the braking surface would be perfect. Brembo sells 2 piece rotors in about a million sizes. I wonder how to figure out what the right size would be to manage sucha project. Any thoughts?
  6. Not to stir up any trouble, but I installed H&R springs on my 99 and the results are pretty clear. proper ride height. Less float under load. Less dive on the brakes. Less understeer. The ride (on Michigan roads) did not change at all. Seriously. Not a bit. not until the car was heavy in a turn did I notice. No rubbing, no weirdness, no nothing. I'm not sure why this setup gets such a bad rap for street cars. I race a 125cc kart on weekends, so I know a stiff setup when I see one. The car is great for the road and occasional track adventure. A small step better than stock with looks to match. Coilovers would be on my car if I didn't live here. But that's because I'm interested in corner weights and camber adjustments for track days and mountain roads. But since I'm not so concerned with ultimate perfomace for the road, why bother?
  7. If I shut the fan down or turn it on, I hear a groaning sort of creaking from the dash. Obviously when something opens and closes. What is it, and can I fix it? Thanks everyone!
  8. Just thought I would ask before I order one Black Carpet please... thanks!
  9. I have a 99 996 with H&R springs aznd otherwise stock suspension. Any word on spacer sizes front and rear? Thanks!
  10. I'm hearing an intermittent squeeling noise when I release the clutch to get the car moving, then it goes away (or I can't hear it anyhow). I can only tell that it's at the back of the car...but that's it. Any ideas? Thanks!
  11. I'm considering aftermarket sway bars (GT3 or TRG) to complement my H&R springs and otherwise stock setup. Figured I could dial out some understeer but keep the ride acceptable on crap Michigan roads. TRG sway bars are $1100 per set (with articulating links) They are similar to GT3R sway bars. Otherwise, GT3 sway bars are about $500. I would feel kinda stupid spending $1100 on sway bars when a Bilstien/GT3 setup is $2000. Your thoughts? Thanks everyone!
  12. I'm sure I speak for many 996 owners when I say good luck and you have my full support!
