Hello everyone,
I want to completly paint all four of the alloy wheels on a 03' 996 Carrera with 18inch 5-spoke. These wheels are in bad shape, clear coat is peeling, its stained, and there are ligth to medium scratches. I wanted to know the correct steps to take in order to get a great result. I know the wheel needs to be clean of all greese and dirt, but I thought by sanding it it would remove everything. But since I never done this before, my main question is the part of sanding and priming. Do I lightly sand the wheel until it is smooth? Or do I sand it down until metal shows? I read if you sand down to the metal you must use self etching primer by Einzet? After priming do I need to lighty sand the primer until it's smooth before I put the first coat of the WURTH SILVER METALLIC wheel paint? Any input from anyone who has painted the whole wheel would be great! Last what type of grain sand paper do I need, Thanks
Have you considered sand blasting?

I have one of these on my SUV, I was thinking of tie wrapping one of these to the plastic oil filter housing, getting the adapter to a spin on filter is pricy, when you only drive the car 5-6 months a year, and only do 1 change a year.
I did purchase a magnetic oil drain plug.

It's almost time to bring the 2002 C2 out from hibernation, I am switching out the stock cats to 200 cell cats, do I need to completely remove the mufflers to change out the cats, or can I get away with just unbolting the cats from the muffler and headers and switch them?
Thanks

The install is very easy. I believe there is a video of it being done on You Tube. Maybe search Raby? The video has a couple of tips that are very useful during the install.
The install video is on the LNEngineering site - it includes more than enough detail for the average DIY'er.
It's on their site, http://www.lnengineering.com/spinonfilteradapter.html, but Mr. Navarro said it's probably better to view it on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv8BTItCrF0. It looks so easy, even all-thumbs-me could install it.
I thought about adding a spin on filter, but I decided for the amount of driving I do, since this is a summer car, and I will only do 1 oil change a year before it goes into storage, It wasn't worth it to me. The only benefit of putting for me to put on a spin on filter is to add a filtermag on it. On my SUV, I use a filtermag on my oil filter.

Hi,
I am a sesoned (3 days) Porsche owner. It is 2002 C2 coupe with manual transmission on 19 inch wheels. I live in Canada and I would like to know if it is possible to change the computer display to read in metric. Kilometers, deg Celcius etc. Also I need to have an all day lights. Can I do it myself? Car is fantastic, I am 6'5" and I fit in it OK - it is like a very confy glove. It is a pleasure to drive it, to look at it, and I hope the engine will stay running for many years. Also I do not have the manual for the car. Is there any place that I could download owners manual? Thank you,
Andy K
Welcome. I brought a US spec 996 Cab to Canada about a year ago. The Daytime Running light fix is easy and works like a charm. The speedo and dash issue was solved with a quick trip to the dealer (Calgary). They charged $37 to switch the dash to metric. It took about 10 minutes. When you download the manual it will also tell you how to change the speedo reading between miles and kilometres.
Good luck.
Thanks very much for the replies,
I switch the miles to kilometers using the right top stick on the instrument cluster, but the farenhaits stay there. Will the dealer or myself be able to change them to celcius?
thanks,
Andy K
To change temperature use the lower left lever and scroll through the settings on your dash panel, this sets up all your conversions, it's all in the user manual.

Hi
I an Canada with the same car, For your Daytime running lights do this
http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/mods/drl/
It's in your owners manual: right top side of your speedo
to change a 996/997 speedo to km from miles, turn the little dial to the left and hold for 5 or 6 seconds

Hi Loren
Happy New Year!
I picked a spare CDR 220 that I need the code for
Serial Number: Y5060804
Quick question about Donation, is the donation a yearly thing or a 1 time donation, but we can donate every year if wanted to?
Thanks
Yung
Try 6673
or
6671
Donations are one-time - but many folks do donate yearly.
Thanks.
Hi Loren
Just letting you know, Code didn't work, but I called Becker and they gave me the code over the phone with No Charge :)
so with S/N last 4 digits ending in 0804
The Code is 7674

Hi Loren
I haven't lost my code yet, but I purchased a backup Becker CDR-220, so I just want to remove my current deck to make sure that this new deck is fully functional.
Thanks
Yung
Here's the info I pulled for the current deck in the 2002 C2 coupe, 6 speed
Becker CDR-220
Becker 1

or
6935

Well, it finally happened! After 42 years of driving, 30 years (now retired)of driving emergency vehicles (Fire engines and trucks), never having a ticket or accident, I got both!
As I approached an intersection the light changed to yellow and I continued through.....another car waiting to turn left turned in front of me and we hit!
The other car said the light was red and had a next door neighbor in the car so had a witness. The cop gave me a ticket for not stopping at a red. It's my word against theirs. Luckily there was no injuries!!!
My question is is for anyone that has gone to court instead of just paying the ticket....
1. Is it worth trying to go to court for this? The other prson had a witness in the car....I was alone.
2. Is the police officer or other person there at the court hearing hearing?
Any of your experiences would be really helpful!!!
Thanks in advance.
In Canada
I would fight the ticket, plus the witness is a friend, so that do he could be lying for the driver.
The Police officer should had given the other a ticket for not turning left in safety, because, is up to the driver turning left do do so safely, since he is turning in front of oncoming traffic.
Check the highway traffic act where your from.
In court the officer usual shows up since he issued the ticket, along with the other driver and the witness, if none of them show, you usually get off the charges.

Hi
I have a 2002 C2, 6 speed with the M490 sound system.
Does someone have the wiring diagram for this system?
I am keeping the Becker CDR-220
I just purchased Focal K2's to use in the dash and Focal 100Ca1 for the rear.
Planning to get Focal 13KS for the doors.
Where should I mount the crossovers for the K2's? If it is mounted in the trunk, do I need to run new wiring to the crossover to the dash speakers or do I use existing wiring.
How good is the stock amp? is it worthwhile to upgrade?
Do they make pigtails for this system so I don't have to start splicing wire?
Thanks

I was thinking of changing my fuel filter, it's a 2002 C2, 6 speed with 3.6, the car is coming out of hibernation this Saturday
on the website, Note: some vehicles do not require a filter, see if your car is listed.

Thanks
