Hey Folks, Was destined for the track this past weekend when a clunking sound was discovered at low speeds and over bumps....and does not show it self until after a few mins of driving. Also after parking, you can hear the clunk by pushing down on the fender. So after some searches I was pretty sure I had a front control arm issue. Now after dis-assembly I am not so sure. I was expecting to see a bad bushing or something visibly wrong. The control arm looks brand new....I can't find anything wrong with bushing. But I did find some slack in the inner tie rod (universal)....that makes a clunking sound. So my question is should I be able to see something wrong with the control arm bushing or could the slack in the inner tie rod be the whole problem? The problem that I have with the inner tie rod being the entire issue is...wouldn't I hear that all the time?.....I mean not requiring the car to be warm. So I am looking for next steps. Should I just replace the tie rods and then reassemble? Is there some other way to verify the other suspension components in question....before I start just paying for expensive parts and replacing; until the problem goes away? Please advise
Hey Folks, I have a CEL with p1124 and p1126 with irough idle. I have cleaned MAF and replaced fuel filter. I have had p1124 in the past couple years(3-4 times), cleaned the MAF and code cleared and does not return for quite 6-12 months. I have white/grey smoke on startup and above 3k RPMs....this is a new symptom. Any ideas on next steps? 1998 boxster 62k miles
ned posted a topic in 987-1 Boxster Convertible Top Issues and SolutionsHey Folks, Wife came home and top would not go down. When pressing the button you hear pop pop pop....but top will not move. So I manually put it down by poping off the clamshell ball and smaller ball. I then checked the took off levers and checked alignment markers.....lowered the top slightly to allow the clamshell balls to be reattached.... seems to lower fine....then raised it. All seemed fine except the motor did not stop like normal and I hear pop pop pop. pushing down or up on button I get the same sound. balls seems to be intact, cable looks ok on motor side.....do I have a top transmission/gear issue? Please advise. ned 98 boxster
