  1. Well, it turned out to be the Brake Switch! Quick fix and on my way... The small drip was a oil leak, but it seems to have fixed itself in the past few days. (Gulp.) Thanks for everyone's input! Derek
  2. Like a leak? Just noticed a small drip of what might be brake fluid on my garage floor...
  3. Thanks guys! I'll get it checked and let you know how it turns out. Derek
  4. Howdy all, I know this is a "common" issue, and I've searched the forums for answers, but had a few questions... On my 02 C2 Tip, My PSM and ABS lights are coming on consistently after 20 mins of driving. Turn the car off and back on, they clear, but again after 20 mins of driving they reappear. This is highway, cruise control driving. Not even touching the brakes. I checked the brake lights, they're fine, and I'm looking into the MAF cleaning/replacing now. But I just thought I'd ask to see if this struck a chord with anyone. (*cough* Loren.) Thanks! Derek
  5. Try 9593 or 9591 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Loren - you rock. I read the FAQ. 9595 did the trick! Derek
  6. Hi Loren! Need a code if possible. Here's the details... CDR-220 Type: 4462 Ser #: 25015107 24/99 Thanks in advance! Derek ------------------------------- 02 C2
  7. Seriously. So - I just called the parts department and three other porsche services counters in the state, and they all said the same thing - if there's plenty of pad, you should be able to pop out the bad sensor and clip the new one in! So, what do you think? Do I report this to the BBB? Write a letter to Porsche? Obviously, they're incompetent or even worse (and more likely) swindlers... I feel like someone should be told about this. Although, I'm not sure what good it will do. DL
  8. Howdy all, So, apparently my driver side rear break sensor has been trip/damaged in some way, although the pads have plenty of life left. Is it possible to replace the sensor without replacing the pad? I have a 2002 C2. My dealer says no - you have to do a rear brake job. I'm dubious... Thoughts, "oh wise sages of the shield?" DL ----------------------------------------- 2002 C2 Tip
  9. Any help would be appreciated... I was coming off the highway today (2002 C2 Tip) and when I got to the stop light at the end of the exit ramp my car started to idol really low and the check engine light came on. I have an extended warranty, but anyone have an idea what this might be? Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas! Super Porsche Fan :renntech:
  10. Hi Loren - the weather cleared, and I just got around to working on this. I tested all four sensors and they checked out OK. I even disconnected each one, one by one to see if the light would go off, but no luck. Again, the pads are almost new. Weird, I know... Any other ideas? Thanks in advance! Derek
  11. Need to invest in some new cleaning supplies and was wondering what the lurkers here use... Suggestions? Opinions? :renntech: Der --------------------------------------------------- 2002 C2 996
  12. So, I was taking of the wheels of my 2002 996 C2 and giving them a good cleaning. While doing so I used some brake parts cleaner on the rotors to help reduce some dust and take care of some trace squeal. Afterwards, I started her up, and my break wear sensor light came on... Now, the pads are almost brand new (5000 miles) and no where near the sensor. I checked the connections, and they all look ok... It's possible some break wear cleaner got onto the sensor, but I doubt it. I tried hard to avoid it anyway. Any idea what might have tripped the sensor? Any thoughts on how I might test them? Thanks in advance from a Porsche newb... :notworthy: Derek
  13. Cool. I appreciate the help! I'm a total noob to Porsche and Renntech! SPF
  14. Hey all, So, I just bought a 2002 C2, and when checking the rear fog light, I noticed only one side lights up (the drivers side.) But, after reading the manual, it's unclear whether or not there's one or two rear fog lights. Little help! SPF
  15. What, on average, do you all pay a year on maintenance on your 996's? I'm trying to do some budgeting, and thought I'd take a poll. Danke in advance! SPF -------------------------- 2002 996 Tip
  16. Hey - Does anyone know if the tiptronic paddles on a 2002 996 Coupe light up when you turn on the headlights? I'm talking about the + and - symbols. Thanks! Derek
