  1. The wider you go, the clumsier it will get. If it's esthetics what you're after, ok then, however if you think you'll get a better response, I'd think it twice. Your choice. JM
  2. As incredible as it sounds, km77.com, the most reliable source of information in Spanish affirms, as above mentioned, that the 997 GT3 engine is the same one of a Carrera (not S). Of course it’s not so, however, I’d need some kind of technical paper or official data sheet or some sort of convincing info in order to proof the media that the statement is very wrong. Thanks JM PS I will post this on the 997 board as it’s relevant for both boards. Sorry for the crossposting.
  3. This control panel was also installed on Audis from early 90's. Check it out as you could obtain the same thing at a fraction of the cost. JM
  4. Two questions then... 1) So what is the 'danger' in not correcting the RMS if it fails? As, long as the engine has correct levels of oil, what can/and does go wrong? 2) Does the RMS failing cause the Check Engine Light to come on? Thanks! -TS <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Right!. So the incredibly awful and infamous techno-horror named "RMS affaire" which affects supposedly thousands of 996 owners means "lots of oil consumption"?. Were it the case, it'd be only a matter of buying more oil. Clearly, I don't understand a thing about this issue. JM
  5. hmmmmm.... maybe I should check my audition is normal, the thing is that I've recently installed (gorgeous) PSE and I've been told by the staff that in Spain (where I live) there's no such thing as the referred cut-out between above mentioned speeds. In other words. First place that PSE works 100% full time, no need to mess around with diodes. And in the second place that I haven't noticed the sound is any weaker between referred speeds, which is something that could only happen in certain markets, as could be mine. Another possibility, certainly, is that I need to check my own audio perception. Could it be true? JM
  6. Just wondering. I've found some sort of tiny spot of something that resembles like oil. Too soon. 12.000 kms on the clock of my 04 C4S. But just in case I receive the "RMS award", thus being member of the distinguished RMS Owner's Club.... I'd like to know what to expect when it finally shows. Any kind of drama when it finally appears, like blowing engines, huge amounts of smoke coming out from the exhaust, strange noises.....? I'm a bit scared. :( JM
  7. My attachments are not working very well, are they? Let's try it again. Any comments regarding length of pictures?
  8. Fair. I've a couple of them while at the track. This one is not the best shot, though, as I'd need to "censure" plates. And, BTW, I'm behind the wheel, :drive: so the person showing is a friend of mine who seems to be a bit worried about the ride. :P

  10. Well, it’s time. I’m new on board our forums, this is my first post here and just in case someone cares I’ll do a tiny presentation about myself. As most of us here, I’m absolutely nuts about cars. I frequently drive formula cars but unfortunately I’m not active in any type of competition because of not having enough free time left for allowing me to compete in a dignified way. My job is a sort of jealous girlfriend. Someday… Well. Currently owning a 911 (996) ’04 C4S which is frankly delightful. Initially I intended for a 996 C2 with stiff suspension, LSD, PSE and all that stuff. In the meantime, I was offered by the dealer a vacant C4S ordered by some guy that tired of waiting for it’s delivering ended on board an Aston Martin’s revamped Jag XJS: the DB7, poor guy. Now I don’t regret at all a decision which was based under a need-to-drive-it-now basis. It’s simply superb. Recently I spent a whole week-end hard-testing a 997 C2S with ceramic brakes, LSD and optional sport-suspension. I think it’s fabulous, yet it’s marginally better than a 996. Steering wheel is more vague and remote than that of a 996 for my taste, the new AISIN gearbox is better but not significantly better, handling is superb, light and nimble if only not for everyone. Once its limits are surpassed (and this car demands exploration of its capabilities with a hard fist and a cold mind) it understeers as easily as it oversteers once it’s really driven hard; it’s fantastic for playing around but not a truly everyday car. I highly hate that sport button that anihilates gas-pedal sensitivity, no finesse allowed. I see my 996 C4S as a kind of compendium. Well, enough. I hope no one has fallen asleep while reading this presentation. JM
