  1. Does anyone know where the yaw sensor is located on a 997-1?
  2. Did a quick search but could not find the flywheel and pressure plate torque specs for a 997.1 GT3, so I'd like to request the values if anyone has them.
  3. Well, the car itself is a Mk1 997 Turbo with some substantial modifications, and the person who owns it would like to place a Turbo S badge just like the 2010 Mk2 Turbo S PDK. If possible, I would like to get the placement specs for the 2010 Turbo S (coupe) in order to help him adhere the badge.
  4. Does anyone have the badge placement specs/measurements for the 997TT "Turbo S" rear engine cover badge? Thanks in advance.
  5. I have a question. I have a 986 from 1997 that does not have M531 (Immobilizer) option code. Does this mean that if I need to replace the DME, I do not need any ipass codes, just swap in a new DME? Thanks.
  6. Hi Loren, it seems like I've got the same info as you. Interestingly, the PET seems to be wrong. I have checked this on my PET too, and it shows even a part number with the VIN Filter on. Unfortunately, there is no sensor on 5 of the GT3/GT3RS I've seen in the last 3 months. Because of this misalignment of information, it has prompted me to post here to seek the answer. I've not been able to sight this sensor on any 997 GT3, but they are plainly obvious on Turbos and Carreras.
  7. Yes, I guess they are. But that's on Carreras and Turbos. Where are they on a GT3?
  8. Hi Guys, I've looked at many 997 GT3's and I have been unable to locate the suspenion compression angle sensors on the car. 997 Carrera's and Turbo's have a linkage and rotational sensor on the left suspension, Front and Rear, connected to the "coffin arm". GT3's do not. So how does the GT3 measure the heights of the Front and Rear? There are certainly height values to be read when using a PIWIS. Just can't figure out how they get the values from. Anybody able to shed some light?
  9. I was wondering if I could move this discussion to the GT3 section of the forum.
  10. Do you think it could be a communication error between the switch and the rear control unit? Or communication between the motor and rear control unit? I'm thinking the former is more likely.Currently the sunroof doesn't work and the system shows a 8010 fault, but when cleared it will work again for some time. Eventually it does not respond any longer, until the fault is cleared again.
  11. I checked a different GT3 today, and it seems that the GT3 does not have this sensor like the Carrera models. Does anyone know where the sensors for suspension compression are for a GT3?
  12. Hi, Does anyone know what the sunroof fault code 8010 means? 2008 Porsche 997 Mk1 Carrera S.
  13. I checked and there is no sensor on either the Rear or the Front suspension. I checked, re-checked and triple-checked! I'm very familiar with the sensors that you are referring to, but they are non-existent on this car. Front body computer says Rear Sensor error and Actual Values show 0.00V from that sensor. But the question, where is the sensor? Could it be that the GT3's don't use the lever arm angle sensor on the arms like the Carrera's do? If they don't then is it in a levelling ECU somewhere?
  14. Hi, I've a 2008 997 GT3 that has a headlight adjustment error on the dash, and through the PIWIS diagnostics I have an 8033 Compression Angle Sensor (Rear) error. Indeed the Actual Values of the rear sensor is 0.00V. However, the car physically does not have suspension height angle sensors on the lower arms either front or rear, similar to the Carerra models, even though the PET catalog seems to indicate that it does. So hence, the puzzlement of this problem. I have been told that there are level sensors in the control unit for the Litronics, but I can't find anything conclusive. I do know that the 996 GT3 had levelling sensing control units under the headlight. How does it measure the suspension angles without the sensors on the arms?
  15. Does anyone have the specs for the position of the 964 Carrera 4 badge on the engine lid? That being said, the C2 badge position specs would also be welcome, as it would be also a good reference on this forum. Thanks!
  16. Just to let everybody know that this issue has been solved. Turned out to be a wiring issue.
  17. Looking at the wiring diagrams, I found that the signal from the brake switch is fed to the Tip CU, and the Shiftlock solenoid should then be activated. I will be checking these signals on the wiring and will update everyone. Meanwhile, if anyone has more info or has something to suggest, do chime in. Thanks!
  18. Does anyone know if the shiftlock mechanism control circuit runs out of the Tiptronic control module, ABS module, or some other mmodule on the 996?
  19. The magnet is still there. Anyhow, I was also thinking that if it were missing, the shifter wouldn't be able to lock with the key off?
  20. On a '98 996 the Tip shifter and selector button are locked when key is off, but once I turn the key, the Tip button is unlocked and I can shift out of Park. But this is without pressing the brake! So there is no safety anymore! I've replaced the brake switch and the Tiptronic shift lock solenoid at the base of the shifter box, and it's still the same. Any suggestions where to check next?
  21. If the spoiler control unit and aux control unit (both under the seat) are new, and the spoiler can be moved up and down using the hand switch, but the spoiler warning light is always on and never goes off, what could it be? Other than checking the microswitches and the wiring, any other suggestions? What is the function/logic of the warning light when it is on? i.e. what conditions will cause the warning light to be on?
  22. Did some reading and I will go ahead and answer my own question, for anyone who might have the same queries as me. General Notes from 993 TSB 4/98 6863 : "Airbag control units are supplied from the Parts Department in an unlocked state. If a newly installed airbag control unit is unlocked, the airbag warning light will flash until it is locked. A flashing airbag warning light is NOT an indication a faulty condition with the airbag control unit! Once locked, the airbag control unit cannot be unlocked! Therefore, the proper vehicle type must be confirmed before locking. After locking, it cannot be changed."
  23. Thanks to both for your excellent replies. This makes perfect sense. I will try a new bulb, and if it is still a problem, check wiring as Loren suggested. I have a question about the option in the tester to "Lock" the airbag. What does this do? And, if locked, can you unlock it?
  24. I recently got an airbag error code 19 on a 993, description is "Airbag Warning Light", which I assume is the airbag warning light itself is faulty. This seems strange since the Airbag light is lit, which is what led me to retrieve the error code to begin with. Doesn't this seem strange? Any thoughts?
