  1. 2002+ boxster and its easy, pre 2002 you're gonna have some fun
  2. thank you both, i have not viewed this engine yet hence my post but i appreciate your help
  3. Looking at a replacement motor for my Boxster project. I located a potential candidate and it reads to be an OEM reman. How do I determine if this is an X51 version. I think its a 2005 3.6 M96/03AT66565897 Any help is appreciated
  4. I too was considering this swap and thought it would be as simple as swapping the egas and non egas throttle bodies but apparently not.
  5. yup, I have oil in the coolant and coolant in my passenger bank spark plugs, failed head
  6. Im smoking too, I think I have a cracked head tho as Im getting coolant out the tail pipe and coolant in the passenger side spark plugs
  7. Seeing that the car was running and brought in for water pump. The car clearly was driveable. I'd do a leakdown test to confirm its solely the waterpump which has failed and not a cracked head like mine. If all checks and no cracked head, I'd have them fix the waterpump and IMS bearing and your car will be able to drive out. You are at worst 10hours labour so far. It can't take more than 6hours to replace water pump and IMS. Clutch labour will be included in the 10 hours of reinstalling the transmission FYI I paid $3500 for my 1997 last year with coolant and oil intermix, 133,000miles should you decide to sell it. Its a fair price. The question is how much are you willing to spend on repairing the car???
  8. Awaiting transplant

  9. Does anyone know of an air bag cover without the actual bag? I know when people upgrade to aftermarket steering wheels they no longer have the airbags. So I've located a 3spoke wheel but does not include the airbag. Its easy to see that 4spoke bag will not work. Are there any solutions to this issue as the airbags for this wheel is as rare as locating the steering wheel itself. Looking to find a solution to the air bag in the steering wheel, hopefully an air bag cover
  10. I too am in Toronto. Looking into engine options. There is one local shop who has a rebuilt 2.5 on kijiji. They wanted I believe $6500. There is the shop Jaak took his car to that quoted me around $8k to rebuild. I'm just gonna wait till I find me a 3.4 and call it a day
  11. My 97 is the exact same but I was gonna swap motor regardless No, there is no smoke on start up. But the exhaust smells of gasoline on start up and goes away after it warms up. Could possibly be the fuel pump, but what is the definition of "ran too many times at low level"? Below half? 1/4? To be honest I usually don't add my tank to full when i'm at the station.
  12. Thanks guys. At the time I saw the serial number and not until I got home and online did I realize that I was looking at the head not the block. I guess I was hoping that the 996 preceeding the sn would suggest it being a 3.4l as the car had already been converted to gemballa and started leaking coolant from the tail pipe. The shop who did the swap ordered a crate motor from Porsche corresponding to the vin thus having nothing to do with gemballa and being plug and play for the mechanic. Thanks again
  13. I've been looking for a M96 core and finally located one locally. Seller claims it was removed from a Gembella boxster, which really means nothing to me. Anyways it had this stamped on the side of the motor, possibly the head. Did not have much access as the motor is in a crate on a shelf. Anyhow number reads as follows: 996 104227 0 R If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Im hoping this is possibly a 3.4 rather than a 2.5 but it really doesnt matter

Anyways it had this stamped on the side of the motor. Did not have much access as the motor is in a crate on a shelf. 15. The hell with it, I'll just buy a parts car and swap over to 6speed as it should have been from the begining
  16. I have a wiring diagram for uk cars i have moved all the wires to mimic this diagram and added in 2 wires however the car no turns over but wont start. i had reordered the ignition wires. why would there be a difference and would it be to do with countries Regards Ross did you swap out your DME like previously mentioned???
  17. new battery and when I place key in ignition with the gear selector in park the reverse indicator is still flashing R
  18. here it is This is how it looked when I bought it These are the wheels off the car This what the car looks like with the rims on the car
  19. Take a look at the method for calculating offset on Mike Focke's website, here: http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/willthos...lsyouwantfit%3F That write-up took a lot of the mystery out of it for me. A competent wheel shop should have no problem confirming the correct offset. Regards, Maurice. Oddly enough, I got tired of staring at them today. Called the guy who sold em to me. He told me his car is a '02 carrera 4 and he had the spacers up front and nothing in the rear. So for sh!ts and giggles I test fit them and went for a slow spin, zero rubbing The wheels are 245/35/19x8 fronts and rears are 275/35/19x10.
  20. Oddly enough test fitted them on the boxster and they fit w/o rubbing. weird but im not complaining
  21. Thanks guys, the spacers are a go. I scrubbed down all the wheels and the offsets 100% are not stamped on the wheels so I dont know what to do. Im hoping that the local wheel shop can calculate the offset but I dont know if they would even be able to
  22. Before I start I did search carrera 4 factory offsets to try and calculate these myself but had no such luck locating these. So I bought 4 wheels off a guy with a 2002 carrera 4. The wheels are 245/35/19x8 fronts and rears are 275/35/19x10. He had 23mm H&R spacers up front and nothing in the rear. \There are some markings inside the wheel stating the wheel size and width but nothing about offset or brand of wheel. Im trying to guess what the offset and make/model these might be if you can help. I do believe the guy I bought them from painted these wheels as well. Also here's a picture of the wheels if you know alot about brands and models I'd appreciate a guess. Thanks in advance guys
  23. Looked on the Allsprings website and found your spacers, minus one number... Their part number is 46957161 It looks like they are 23mm spacers. Here is the link to that part on their pages: http://www.allsprings.com/catalog/porsche-...-23mm-5x130.htm Regards, Maurice. Thanks Maurice I think I pulled it up just as you posted. Now to figure wheel offset out. That wont be so easy
