  1. Do you mean the contact surface of the bearing to the guide sleeve? I don't recall seeing or feeling any grease there, and if there was I probably got my grubby fingers all over it and ruined it. Grease in the actual bearing I'm not worried about, what concerns me is the mating surface between the bearing body and the sleeve.
  2. In a couple of weekends I'm going to replace the T/O bearing and the bearing guide on my 2000 C2. Only thing is that I haven't been able to find any documentation for greasing the sleeve, I've looked but haven't found anything definite. So anyone know how to grease up the bearing/sleeve and what grease to use? Thanks.
  3. I took the car in to the dealership to have the main pinion shaft bearing replaced and I just picked it back up today. Manager said while they were in they needed to replace the secondary pinion shaft bearing as well because the only way to get it off was a destructive method. That doesn't sound right to me, especially since they gave me both bearings and the one they damaged was just dented on the seal--I tried that with the other one and I could bend the seal with my finger, which leads me to believe it was technician error. Just wondering if anyone's had experience with this. Thanks.
  4. Speaking of this, I'm getting the feeling my fuel pump is on its last legs. When I start it cold it seems to stumble and doesn't always get up to 1200rpm, then when I drive off it will stumble/surge as I get on the gas, but if I "prime" the fuel system by turning the key to the run position and letting it sit for a few seconds while I get situated in the car it will run more smoothly right off the get go (though not perfectly). Can't tell if this is the pump itself or pressure regulation. Car is a 2000 C2

Okay I'll make this to the point: - 2000 996 C2 6spd US - Engine hesitation for about 20-30 seconds after cold start. - Engine hesitation (slight) going from no to very light throttle input. - Low idle (500-600) after hot start--within a few minutes after shut down. Haven't seen any codes and I've cleaned the TB and MAF. Any ideas? Thanks.
  6. Porsche does not approve 5W-30 oil for it's cars. 0W-40, 5W-40, and 5W-50 are approved oil viscosity. You really need 5W-40 as a minimum. For whatever reason, the Porsche dealership near me (Birmingham, AL) uses Mobil 1 0w30. Same guys that let a Cayman S basically rot on display at a local mall--completely rusted calipers and cobwebs all over it.
