  1. The voltage regulator is part of the alternator and can be removed / exchanged quite easily with an aftermarket part once the alternator is out. On a 996 not a very difficult job. Don't know about thew Boxster. Good luck, JP Where did you get your voltage regulator? The guys at my dealer can’t seem to find a part number for it.
  2. Can anyone tell me where to find a voltage regulator for a 2001 Boxster? My car is not holding a constant voltage and it is surging up and down about 200 RPM. While at the same time all the electrical items pulse up and down with the RPM. The battery checks out and this is my next option. I am also getting the code “9133 61 term low engine running” any ideas or suggestions for further diagnostics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tarry
  3. Ok the battery checks out as good. The voltage according to the durametric reader bounces between 11.8 and 13 ish with the engine rpm and the battery light stays on. Any other ideas? Whats going to be the best way to test the alternator?
  4. I need a little code help. My car a 2001 boxster 5 spd is not idling smoothly the lights and A/C fluctuate with the engine rpm. The voltage according to the durametric reader bounces between 11.8 and 13 ish with the engine rpm and the battery light stays on. I am also getting the code 9133 61 term low engine running. Any ideas or suggestions for further diagnostics. Thanks Tarry
  5. What does a DME doctor do? I did not think DME problems were common. Are there DME performance mods?
  6. I am as sure as I can be about the codes and diagnostic tool. I have a new Durametric tool and software on my laptop. As for the pressure sensor I seem to recall an issue on one of the boards where this was a problem and I can not find the posting now. As I recall it was a fairly random occurrence and was cleared for the poster with out reoccurrence. I really dont what to pay for a new DME! I guess its time to check the part number on my MAF and get to ordering. Any idea who has the best price these days?
  7. I have done the cleaning already and it did not do much if anything for me. It’s the ambient pressure sensor code that has me stumped. I have not seen this one before and the research I did on it last night was vague at best. I tend to agree with the MAF being bad but was hoping there could be some thing less expensive I was over looking.
  8. Hello all, I got a CEL on the way home from work today and they are listed bellow. I would appreciate any input on where to start. Its a 2001 2.7L with 82,000 miles and the symptoms that came with the light were massive loss of power and hesitation. P0102 Porsche fault code 115 - Mass air flow sensor below limit value P0107 Porsche fault code 299 - Ambient pressure sensor below limit value P1126 Porsche fault code 356 - Multiplic. mixture adapt. lower load range B.1: P1133 Porsche fault code 358 - Multiplic. mixture adapt. lower load range B.2: I can clear the code and drive the car with the hesitation and loss of power for some time (25 miles) before the CEL comes back. Thanks for your input in advance. Tarry
  9. What you described happened to me 9 months ago. I had the flat bed take my car to a local indy shop and they told me what I expected to hear that the motor had blown and it would be about 13K to replace. Having always wanted more power I decided to take the car home and put in a 3.4. I bought all the parts and started to disassemble the car. That's when I noticed that nothing the mechanic said he had done to diagnose the car had been touched. I pulled the intake and found the real problem. The air oil separator (AOS) had in fact died not the motor. Cost 135-150 in parts and 30 minutes under the car. In the end I sued the local shop and filed a complaint with the local BB. Long story short and I know its to late for that. If you did not have any harsh knocking sounds or worse yet lock up the problem might not be as horrifying as you think. Good luck!
