  1. Hellow james I have a 2004 cayenne and was wondering if I could upgrade the bumper as well for my car? and also where would i go to purchase it? thanks

  2. Hi what year was the cayenne with the conversion i have a 2004 turbo i want to put a 2008 turbo grill on it

  3. Saw a post for Gen 1 gearshift removal but how does it work on a Gen 2 vehicle? Have done this on other Porsche models and with those, the risk of breaking something if done incorrectly is very high
  4. Anyone know if the handbrake unit (Part number 996.424.980.23.VRJ) would fit into a 987 without any modification? My leather handbrake is very badly scratched and needs replacing but I have a found a cheap, new 986 unit for sale. tks J
  5. Cayenne GTS/Turbo front bumper upgrade So, After a productive Easter break I have upgraded the front of the Cayenne `S' to look like the GTS/Turbo model. Always thought the bigger front grille made the car look more `planted'. The attached deck shows the steps I went through if anyone else fancies trying the change but would alse be helpful for any mod that requires the front bumper to be removed. I also installed the front steel skidplate while upgrading the bumper and will post this as a separate guide shortly. Any questions or Author jamesevelynclarke Category Cayenne (9PA, 9PA1) - Mods Submitted 04/25/2009 01:31 AM Updated 09/30/2016 01:42 PM

  7. Latest installment: I took the feed from from the standard running light bulb and just connected it to the new GTS running light unit. The strip light comes on fine and the `bulb blown' warning message does not appear. The only issue is how to make the connection to the new unit permanent. I asked the local Porsche dealer and they did not have the square connector block required (as shown in your photo) as it is part of the whole wiring loom. I wasn't aware that the connector was a standard VW Toureg item?? Anyway, I am instead making my own connections, which are quite straightforward and will post some photos in a couple of days. The indicator bulb connection in the GTS light unit is exactly the same as on the S so this is a simple plug-in. Tommorrow is the big job when I remove the front bumper and try to put on the replacement GTS/Turbo unit. This will also involve putting on the front wheel-arch extensions. My car had these fitted as standard as it has the 21" sport design wheels. The extensions seem to be simply stuck onto the bumper with double-sided automotive tape! I guess I will just need to gently prise them off mine and replace on the new bumper with fresh tape. The last thing then will be to find caps for the headlamp wash holes in the new bumper. My car does not have the xenon lights or headlamp wash. I had bought some caps (955 628 301 11) but these were for a Cayenne S model and it seems that the holes in the Turbo/GTS bumper are specific to that model so I will have to try again. J
  8. Hi, Conversion from standard Cayenne S front bumper and lighting to GTS/Turbo look almost complete and has been very straightforward so far (will post conversion once complete). Only outstanding question is about the daytime running lights. In the S the bulb is a 5W5 (12 Volt, 5 Watt). I had thought the GTS/Turbo light was LED but is in fact just a simple bulb (a straight version of the BMW `angel eyes' lights used in their X5). However, it is a 12V, 2W rated item. Question: If I simply take the existing feed from the 5W5 bulb and connect it to the 12V, 2W new bulb, what will happen? In theory I think it would work and just draw a lower current but this might trigger a `blown bulb' warning in the dashboard? Is this right? Tks J
  9. Hi - could you just check with them that there were no other changes? Just back from the dealership and they have told me this cannot be done as the GTS has a completely different control unit and `gateway', whatever that is. If you know people who have made the change I'd really appreciate a few more details, especially as the LED units are a different voltage to teh normal side lights. tks J
  10. Ok, So there isn't a voltage issue I need to worry about and I can just take the normal bulb feed and connect to the LED unit? The PIWIS setting I can get done at my local dealership. Tks J
  11. So, having bought a MY08 Cayenne S with all the toys, the one thing that I still really wanted to do was give the car the more aggressive front fender and lights from the GTS/Turbo. I've managed to source these but now face the task of replacing the standard front fender and lights with this new stuff. The fender replacement itself is straight forward but I have an outstanding issue regarding the front lighting units (direction lights and LED daytime running lights). The orange direction indicators are styled differently in the GTS (from vertical in the S to horizontal in the GTS located under the LEDs) but they use exactly the same bulbs so there is no electrical work needed here, just the new lamp/fender housing, which I have. The outstanding problem is the daytime running lights changing from a regular 5W5 bulb (i.e. a regular 12v bulb) to the LED strip, which I think is a 2Volt item. Basically I need to understand what, if any current adjustment I need to make to power the LEDs correctly. The `control unit' shown in the tech diagram lighting page doesn't say if this is to regulate the voltage for the LEDs or whether it relates to the headlamp unit, or both. On the 997 Turbo the LEDs have a control unit so I'm guessing the Cayenne LEDs must need one as well? If anyone with electrical knowledge has any ideas on this, please say as this is the only outstanding item to be resolved before I start the project (gulp)! The local dealer was not much help! Tks J
  12. Hi, Has anyone switched the standard Gen 2 Cayenne'S' front bumper for the LED version fitted to the GTS and Turbo? Does the new bumper just bolt-on in the same way? Any bumper removal guides for Gen 2 Cayennes? tks J
