  1. I have to do the smog check on my 2002 C4. Where are the "safe" places to go in So Cal. Especially it's an 4WD. I was told that not every smog check station has the right equipment for testing 4WD. Your advise/expereince is greatly appreciated! :renntech:
  2. Professor Loren, Do you have a photo and the part number for the hight light switch used by MY2002 C4 Cab? How much does it cost? Thanks again! :renntech:
  3. Professor Loren, The battery is fully charged and the voltmeter shows 14 when the engine is running. Do you think the light switch is going bad? Any way to "reset" the parking assistant/sensors? BTW, the reverse light is out as well. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! :notworthy:
  4. :help: Please help me with the DIY instruction on replacing the headlight switch on 2002 C4 Cab. Thanks! :notworthy:
  5. Professor Loren, I have checked the fuse. Nothing wrong. In addition, I have noticed my Xeon headlights (low beam) now need some time to "warm up". They don't come up until a couple of minutes after switched on. I wonder if there are any relays controling the headlights and parking sensors going bad. Thanks again for sharing with your expertise! :notworthy:
  6. :help: Professor Loren, The battery on my MY2002 Tip Cab4 died and got replaced recently. Everything appears to be normal except the Parking Assistant/Sensors. I noticed the problem when I was resetting the Seat Memory and the auto-swiveling-down function of the passenger-side mirror when backing up. I did engage my Tiptronic selector level on P when storing the seat position (per factory manual). It used to work but not this time. I also noticed I have lost the confirming short signal tune of the Parking Assistant/Sensors when I engaged my Tiptronic selector level on P. What might have caused this and what should I do? Thanks! :notworthy:
  7. :help: Please help me with the part number for MY02 Carrera 4 Cab Battery. What's the running price for it? Are there any aftermarket equivalent available and where could I get it? Thanks! :notworthy:
  8. Dear fellow Carrera owners, :help: What kind of coolant fluid do you use when it's time to top off? Do we need to get the "original" form Porsche dealerships? What should be the mixture ratio? Your input would be greatly appreciated! :notworthy:
  9. TP, Thanks for your input! On a slightly different note, I was told to avoid taking the door panels apart at all because of the risk of getting rattles/noises afterwards. My buddy's 03 C4S has the infamous window streak marks but refuses to take it to the Porsche dealership for the warranty repairs. "I could live with the streaks but not the potential rattling", he said. Does he worry too much on this? Thanks!
  10. Folks, Any idea on what this recall is about? Recall #W208000 Update PCM Software 996/986 2000-2002 Thanks!
  11. Hi Folks, :help: Just want to see if any one has had the same experience with your drive-side window before. The driver-side window galss of my 02 C4 Cab failed to drop before the driver-side door closed today. The window glass hit and bounced off the side-frame of the convertible top. Anybody had the same problem before? What caused this? Is there a way to check whether any part of the window glass assembly is damaged as a result of this? Thanks!
  12. Master Loren, :help: Krytox lubricant was recommended in a couple of Porsche's TSB for eliminating the rubber squeaking. However, I could only locate Silicone lubricant in hardware stores. Do they pretty much serve the same purpose? The instruction for the Silicone lubricant does say so though. Your advise please! Thanks!
  13. Master Loren, I found its "home! But, I really don't see the point! It's quite fragile (three out of four clips broken already) and it does not "magnify" to help you see the VIN No. :notworthy: to Porsche again!
  14. Guys, :help: I wonder if you could help me identify the following part I found when cleaning the trunk of my 02 C4 Cab. It is a transparent plastic cover-like piece (3.5''x1") and has the following info on it: 996.572.661.00 Germany >PC< THA I look around in the truck and could not find its home there. :  Any idea? Happy New Year
  15. TP, Thanks a lot! BTW, my grand mom told me never accept things from peopled for free!  Happy Holidays!
  16. Folks I am following the TSBs to eliminate the rattling and squeaking on my convertible top. :construction: What are the best sources for getting the following items suggested by Porsche's TSBs? Teflon adhesive tapes Narrow (15MM) and wide (25MM) felt tapes Krytox lubricant Butyl cord (roll) How much will they cost? Thanks! B)
  17. Folks, :help: Over the weekend, I have had a very comprehensive visual inspection on my MY 02 C4 Cab and found a couple of rusted bolts/screws and washers. Are they covered by the initial 4-year warranty or the 10-year corrosion warranty? Thanks!
  18. Hi Guys, Need your expertise here! It's time to change my key battery of my MY02 Cab. What's the best way to open the cover of the key head? I really don't want to damage the edge of the key head cover with "small screw driver or finger nail (as described in the TSB)". :help: Also, somebody told me the battery is a part of the original warranty. Is it true? If not, where to get the battery and roughly how much? Thanks and Happy Holidays!
  19. Hi Folks, Do both 996-563-421-01 and 996-555-457-00-G10 refer to the same part except the colors? This is the plastic U-shaped protector for the Cab hardtop to sit on over the canvas top. Any ideas how much does it cost and the best source to order it? Thanks and Happy Holidays!
