  1. Hi gang, I am looking at upgrading my Boxster 2001 tail lights, and while I like the porsche clear lights from >2004 models, they are a bit pricey, and I was looking at e-bay and found the following: http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_2054wt_1163 OR http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_5730wt_1396 Both from DEPO. So I have the following questions: - Is DEPO after market lights good 5quality / reliability) ? - are both options 100% legal in the US ? - For a Artic silver Metallic boxster...would you go clear or smoke ? - Do you know other / better options for less than $300 ? Thanks for your help, support and recommendation ! Vince
  2. I believe AOS for an '01 is 996 107 023 4 I don't know if it comes with an O ring attached, but if not I think that is 996 107 122 00 You also need a tiny dab of silicon grease for the O ring I've not looked at an AOS in an '01, but I think everything else can be reused - if not, i would think the boot would be one that might not be resused - 996 107 237 52 If you drop the bolts - 900 378 177 09 Thanks !!! I found tha post on how to do the job : http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/airoilseparatorreplacement Looks like Mike is suggesting that for 2000-2004 boxster I would need a "Y" tube ??? Do you know what it is (p/n) and if I need one ? Is that the same thing as the boot you are talking about in your answer ? Last, can I use any silicon grease, or should i follow Mike suggestion with the Kluber Syntheto Glep (#000.043.204.68) ? THanks a lot....first time I am working on my Boxster and I appreciate your help ! Vincent J tube, vent line, breather tube - 996 197 145 06 but that looks to be superseded by 996 197 146 00 Do you need it? I'm not sure you do. It looks to cost about $25. It has an O ring on it - if you get a new one, get a new O ring too if it doesn't come with it. 999 707 446 40 Is that the same thing as the boot you are talking about in your answer ? J tube and boot are different. The picture mike has shows the boot - it is the short accordian looking tube at the bottom. Also shows the J tube, which looks like, well, a J. Last, can I use any silicon grease, or should i follow Mike suggestion with the Kluber Syntheto Glep (#000.043.204.68) ? Any silicon grease. Thanks a lot, Vincent

  4. I have a BOXSTER 2001 5 speed manual. My car has 72000 miles. I am living in Sunnyvale, CA. Recently, I got quite a lot white smoke from exhaust at start up - especially in the morning when the temperature is still cold. I identfied that the AOS is dead. Indeed, there is no way to remove the oil cap when engine is running, when it is easy when engine does not turn. Last, today, I started to hear some noise, especially at low rpm. Hopefully I was less than 0.5 miles from home and park the car. Hopefully, the engine ditn't heat, and no light ever light up on the dashboard at any time. I hope the engine is OK...despite the noise I heard... Looks like I need to urgently change the AOS. I am planning to do it by myself, and need your recommendation about all the p/n I need to order. Tanks a lot, Vincent
