  1. Right now on the Porsche web site, there are 53 987S's for sale 2005-2006. Many with CPO.

Take your time. The search is a very-very fun part of the process!

I agree..there are plenty of 987s nowadays, for some reason though the manual cars are mostly base model, I am looking for an S model. I had a 986 base (220hp) and can use the additional horses the second time around. :P

I will definitely update you guys with decision and pic as soon as I have the car...

I am also thinking about having the white one (#1) CPO'd...anybody know how much this will cost?

  3. Looking to pick up a 987S this weekend, here are the choices (both MT);

Pros being the options I prefer and cons being what I would have to do to get the car the way that I want.

    1) 06 White/ Black/ 42M Miles

Pros: I like color, Sport Chrono, Sport Seats and Steering Wheel.

Cons: Blemishes on the paint, big scratch on quarter panel, though hard to see being white. No Xenons, not certified Warranty, only remaining 8M miles and 1 year. Missing tool kit and instruction manual.

    Price: ~32K

    2) 05 Silver/ terracota/ 26M

Pros: Porsche Certified Warranty until 2011/ 100M, full leather, sport seat, Xenons, 19"s carrera s wheel

Cons: prefer color config of #1, but can also like this color. does not have as many "sporty features" as #1

    Price: ~37K

Do you think the ~5K is the options in #2... xenons, 19's and porsche extended warranty is what I would add to #1

    comments? ;)

  4. After an incident, my right side factory-equipped litronic light was replaced. The problem is the new passenger side and driver side low beam color does not match. The old light is closer to white with a slight green tint to it while the older driver side light is much more purple. The car is a MY2000 w/ 76M Miles.

    Here are some other facts:

    1) Both lights turned on for the first time after being off for a few hours starts of the same purplish color with the newer light turning to a lighter color within minutes, while the older light stayed relatively purple.

    2) Both light output seems the same

    3) Pulled the bulbs out and discovered that they have different part numbers on them:

    Left Bulb (older):

    Philips Germany D2S 35W E 85123 e1 03V 9MO1

    Right Bulb (newer)

    Philips Germany D2S 35W 85122 e1 03V M407

Can someone please tell me the if the difference in color is just due to the difference in the age of the lights or is it because of the different part# found on the bulbs? Thank you.

  5. Does Anyone here have any experience with wheel spacers; I am currently running the Porsche 18" (turbo-look)wheels and would like to have a flush look on the fenders, but do not want to upgrade to wider wheels as I feel that the current wheel size is optimal for my 2000 boxster's performance.

Any suggestions on where and what size spacers I should get?

Any suggestions on custom exhaust? or should I just upgrade to an S type exhaust?

  6. I am planning on adding a Pioneer Avic N1 headunit to my 2000 boxster (Navi, DVD, MP3, etc). Does anyone here have any experience with this unit? Also some questions:

    1) Do I need to take the dash apart to install a new headunit?

    2) Where can I get the audio keys to remove the headunit?

    3) Any special requirement to instal this unit?

    Thanks....

  7. Hi Guys,

Wow! what a good informative forum. I have been lurking for a few weeks (as I have been searching for a boxster). I have found a 2000 boxster 2.7 5 spd with the sport touring package with 55K Miles and will finalize my deal this weekend.

Please help with my questions below:

I have heard about some engine failures on the 97-99. Have they fixed the problem for the 2000 and up cars?

I would like to test drive the car one final time before signing on the dotted line. Please let me know what I should look for and how to confirm that the engine and transmission (or anything else) are in good condition (without taking it to the techs). Please note that the car appears to be in very good condition cosmetically and in terms of wear and tear.

Thanks in advance for your help.
