  1. Thanks Mike! I don't own the car anymore, it is with my friend who is the dealer. I passed the info to him and am waiting for him to get back to me. Will let you know what he decides. Appreciate all the help.
  2. Sorry to hear about your engine woes. I sent you a PM -- I'm and LN Engineering dealer -- maybe I can help you out. Mike
  3. I have a 3.6L 2002 with 30K miles on it

    with perfect compression.

newly replaced water pump, coils, plugs,

belt, LNE IMS Retrofit kit, LNE Low Temp Thermostat.

    $7500

Ship it to me -- I'll install it for your core.

You can then fly down and drive it back home.

    Or ship it back.

My shop is in Austin, Texas.

  4. Hi All, Looking for some help/ideas. I traded in a 2002 996 3.6 Targa to a friend who is a dealer (he sold me the car originally). This was about 3 weeks ago. Last Friday the engine blew. Took it to the indie (very good shop) who had just completed the 60K major service about a month ago. Cylinder sleeve cracked. Goodbye engine. Got a quote for a replacement- $18,500!!! It seems Stuggart wants more for this engine than a 997 3.8S. Is Autofarm an option? Anyone have any other ideas? Thx!!!
  5. Akers in downtown Seattle is very good as well.
  6. Thanks Loren. I had read that any tap water in the system could cause problems.
  7. I recently brought a 996 Targa to a very highly regarded Indie shop for a coolant tank problem. Long story short, a plastic Y needed replaced. $5.00 part! Before bringing in (the night before) I had to top off with about 32oz of tap water from work. I told the shop this, and was expecting to have to do a coolant flush and refill. They said no problem, I didn't need the flush. They topped me off with Pink and away I went. Now I am tossing and turning with visions of corrosion and intermix. Should I return for a flush or much ado about nothing? Thanks!
  8. No PSM. So I guess that solves it. I had seen in 'Porsche 996, The Essential Companion' a picture of a '5.7 ABS system with TC'. Car must have had PSM as well I guess. Thanks!
  9. Thanks Loren. Is thre anyway I can tell whether my car has 5.7 with TC, or does 5.7 make that redundant? Thanks again.
  10. I don't know of any option code that will tell me whether i have ABS 5.3 with TC or ABS 5.7 without TC. I have two lines out the back of the ABS hydraulic unit, which would indicate TC with a 5.3 unit. But I'm not certain that the same logic holds for a 5.7 unit. There is no switch on the dash center console, either. Anyone know how I might figure this out? Thanks! :)
  11. I don't have the dreaded roof rattle, but lately seem to be getting a lot of squeak and rattle from the hatch. Is there a way to adjust the latch that anyone know of?
  12. Just following up. The car was fantastic at Driver Skills. More fun to drive than the Boxster, particularly more comfortable to and from.
  13. I just traded in a MY 2000 Boxster S for a 2002 Targa. Taking the Targa to my first Driver Skills day this weekend and will report back what I learn. So far, I am very happy with the Targa, and I really enjoyed the Boxster. The Targa feels more solid, while the Boxster felt a bit more connected. The roof rattle does not bug me.
  14. Thanks everyone. My manual is for a MY 2000- dealer somehow got it messed it up. The PDF is great, that will help a lot, as the fuse diagram is missing from the back of the cover. A comedy of errors, it would seem.
  15. Was having some home computer issues as well, gave me the idea of trying to reset the car's computer. That cleared the issue- guess it was an interlock problem.
