  1. My philosophy is beauty is in the eye of the beholder and love mods on Porsches but that looks to be trying a little too hard..
  2. I have a friend that has a 03 C4s and I have a 2000 c4 Cab. Both are 6 speeds Manuals and we have both agreed that there is barley a difference between the two speed wise. Cars sound the same to him but knowing my engne I think the C4s is slightly, and I mean slightly louder. The C4 has 15 BHPs and 15 Torque more which in the car is really not much. Either way you will make a great choice..
  3. I have noticed that the Porsche brings out the best in me, I think it is a great car. There are however many drivers of some specific cars, Mustang, corvette, Subaru and Mercs that get very angry, and always want to race or pull up and rev their engin while I'm trying to cruiz in my Porsche. Please take the Poll and if you have any good stories go for it! Cheers. Brian
  4. I did the K & Nlast year nd can tell you that I had my car on the Dyno the day before and the week after i put it on. The results are 12 BHPs increase. In a Lawnmower or Garage door opener it is 23 BHPs are huge in that car it is negligable. Everyone is right though the sounds is louder. I ended up having it taken off and the stock put back on. It is personal preference with the elevated noise level but with it on it did not sound like a Porsche TO ME, again personal preferance. Plus I did not want to get hung up lite many speed racer kids in mustangs, Subaru and neons do.
  5. Hi Ken. I have headlight that went out on my 2000 C4 Cab and am looking to make the conversion. I printed out your directions and see the exact same model headlights but they all say on box "For Off road Use Only". I noticed your PDF also says that on the first pic at the top left corner. I can not find any reason it would say that...Have you come across any issues by the local law offices or burning the interior of the headlight(due to heat) since you made the updgrade? Thanks in advance for your detailed mod instructions. Brian
  6. Does anyone have any information on the yearly production Run of the 1999 996? The local Prosche dealer relayed that there were more 996 models sold than all porsches combined before it. That seems really incredibly high. I have done a search and can not find the information. Thank you, Brian
  7. That's a good one and one I may use. I would love to test the cars limits but it would be terriable to have to see my car picked up by a tow truck...
  8. I am taking my 996 C4 to the Drag Strip and then for a spin around Poconno Raceway this summer. I have not taken the driving course and it is not required for the drag strip however I will be using the "Drop Clutch" method at the drag strip. A customer of mine has a 997 and swears he gets the best from his Porsche by dropping the clutch at 4,500 RPM's. That seems a bit high for my 996 however I want to really get the Most from the car...Anyone have any suggestions that might be good for the Drag Strip or the Local Traffic light. :D Directions from my colleague Come to a complete stop. Put your car in first gear. While holding the clutch in, rev the car to 4500 rpm. Quickly and swiftly release the clutch. -Brian
  9. The word is (or si it the economy) Auto Zone sees a Moneymaker with the Duralast Battery.. Price is now $89.99 Plus a Core Charge of $12.00. sooo quick math makes it $101.99
  10. I am driving the car 4-5 days a week and round trip is only 5-6 miles each of those days. Any suggestions on finding an Indy? I just moved to a new area and am having some trouble finding anyone But the local dealer. The first time I went to the local Dealer, Main Line Porsche, the head of Service said he was glad I do not have a very old Porsche becuase they really make theit $ off the cars that are 1995 and newer. This is also the dealer who is looking to charge me 350 for the battery and install. Yes, I tried the Search tool and the Advanced Search tool both come up with 1,000 plus results..... Yes, it is $350 for the battery however they do have a capachino machine. :)
  11. I am only at 70K miles but have had multiple Battery issues. According to two Porsche Dealerships it is not electrical just not great batteries any suggestions? They want to sell me one for $350.00 which even by Porsche standards seems very high. I have an Interstate Megatron Plus 85 MPT 91 700 Cold Crank Amps now that needs to be replaced. I need the Very Best Best Best battery so I do not have to deal with this issue anymore. If anyone has had one that exceeded expectations please let me know. Thanks!
  12. Hey everyone. I was watching some television today and I saw this commercial that tells about this product that can remove scratches and nicks. It's called "Simoniz Fit It Scratch Remover." Heres a link below, maybe you guys get the idea. I know a lot As Seen on TV doesn't work well, and lead to waste of money. http://www.buyfixit.com/ I wonder have any of you guys heard of it? or use them? I have taken the car to the detailer and the minor scratches eventually come back.. So outside of a new paint job I am wondering if this stuff works... Thanks. Brian
  13. I have heard really good things about Winner porsche in Newark Delaware and take my car to Don Rosen in Conshohocken. I would really suggest staying away from Main line Porsche. They have had HUGE problems since new management and are not worthy of being a YUGO dealer in my opinion. Good luck
  14. Hi. I called Main Line Porsche Saturday and asked if I should be checking engine oil level with the engine started or turned off. They put the phone down and said the mechanics could not tell me but would call me when the head mechanic was back in 4 days???? Unfortunitly I purchased the car second hand and there is no owners manual. I have taken the car to this dealer for 2 years and have had a few problems but this is should be an easy question for any dealer.. Can anyone help? I have read that the air cool vs liquid cooled engine instructions are different but do not know which is which. Thanks in advance!
  15. I do sales so it does make a difference.. If I am with customers that I know have a lot of $$ I am fine with discussing my 911. If not, then I say my jeep. Let's be real, it's not about being comfortable in your own skin it is more about the perception that people that don't have a porsche, ferrari etc.. have have when you pull up in a 100K ride..
  16. I had a very similar problem with my 996 C4 CAB 66kmiles. It turned out to be the Exhaust pipe was slightly loose and when I gave it more gas or revs it became more apparent. I had someone rev the engine slowly in newtral and then I went around to the back of the car and could really tell that was the problem. Good luck and let me know how it works out. Regards, Brian
  17. Now that is the kind of gift you can't go wrong with!! I am not surprised about your comments on Main Line Porsche.. I have had the same issues with them. I have started to go to another dealer and although it is out of my way and farther for me to drive a much better run Porsche dealer.
  18. I think you may have something there.. I logged in "Porsche 911" and then in a seperate Google search page "Porsche Carrera". Results: Porsche 911 8,290,000 Google Web Pages found Porsche Carrera- 10,700,000 Google Webpages found Strangely Porsche Carrera seems to be used more.. Who would have thought??
  19. I have a set of PZero Rosso tires (P265/35ZR18) on my 996 C4 Cabriolet and am tired of changing out the rear tires every 10-12K miles. Let me first say; I am really not riping it up. I am probably a little to conservative with the car, I use it for commuting and mostly highway miles. Consumer Reports rated the Falken Ziex ZE-912 very highly and the PZero Rossos at the bottom of the list! Has anyone had any experience with the Falkens? Thank you! Brian
  20. Hello Loren. Do you have the rest of that graphic that you put up? My other question; Do you know where I can get the tool that is displayed in the picture? I bought my Porsche secondhand and it did not come with the tool or Owners Manual. Thank you! Brian
  21. Thank you, and great web site. Being a new member I am unfamiliar with the venacular.. What is the TSB and where would I find that? Best regards. Brian
  22. I have a 2000 911 C4 Cabriolet and live an hour from the closest Porsce dealer. I am going to purchase a Hardtop and have it delivered to my house. I called the Porsche dealer and asked if I neded to make any modifications to my car so the hardtop would fit and they said inot all Porsches are ready for hardtops. He said I could make a diagnosis appoinment ($200.00) to let me know if my car had the right equiptment? Does anyone know what other equiptment I would need outside of the Allen wrench that came with the car? Thank you, Brian
