  1. I see. So since I drive the car nearly 100 percent of the time in manual (sport mode), then it really hasnt learned much about my driving style. I also notice that the downshift's in D always seem to be smoother than in manual mode. Is that due to the programing in D executing the perfect shifts based on the software mapping? Jon
  2. When I select Sport mode on my 997.2 S PDK, assuming the car is warmed up, the very first time I shift into second it always has a slower shift where the clutch slips a bit but every shift thereafter is fine. If I shut the car off and restart, I can recreate it again. Is this because the Sport PLus is adaptive and learning my driving style? My other question was, does the gearbox adapt with each restart or does it combine all the prior driving experiences? Thanks in advance. Jon
  3. I have a 997.2 S PDK. Please help me figure out the best launch configuration. Here is what I do now. 1. Select Sport plus, select Drive, TURN OFF PSM, TURN OFF PASM. I have been told to TURN ON PSM but when I do it shudders a bit because the get a strong bite from the pavement. I also TURN OFF PASM so the car can squat a bit and "dig in". Am I doing this correctly? Jon
  4. Cool video! I am about to have a track day myself. Wondering if you got an rock chips while you were on the track? Why didnt you decide to tape up the front or might you have had a clear bra? THoughts? Jon
  5. I lease my car. Dealer told me 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Should I care? It's a lease. Jon
  6. I have both the 9500ix and the V1. I use the V1 for road trips and the Escort in town. With the GPS on the Escort, I know that when it goes off, it's for real. I completely tune it out knowing that when it goes off, it's for real. Knowing when and where to look works best with the V1 and I prefer it on road trips where I likely wont go 3 times (escort needs to see a false alert 3 times before it blocks it out). Jon
  7. So far I have found 1 site, Birdautomotive.com, that has a custom bike hitch solution for my 987S. It does not cut or drill into the body work...only 2 small holes from under the car. I am thinking of trying it, but want to make sure there is no other solution (aside from the porsche roof mount that I dont like). The bird solution is costly.....$400. Are there any other solutions?
  8. Has K&N fallen out of the good graces of enthusiasts?
  9. For sure...the stations I am tuning have always been clear in all my other cars....and they are locally based. The car was delayed being delivered because the radio initially did not work so they replaced it with another Boxster S that was in stock. I have to tell you, it's very frustrating......when it loses the reception (albiet very slightly), all the Treble/highs drop out. It's very noticable but I have been trying to develop a pattern so when I go to the dealer they dont think I am nuts. What is PIWIS?
  10. www.myipod.com seems like they will have a connection via the CD player in Autum 2005.
  11. Does Porsche sell an OEM kit for a connection to XM or Sirus? If the answer is no, do the aftermarket kits allow a "direct connect" to the stereo versus having to go via an FM tuned station like 88.7? I never liked the sound quality of those hookup compared to ones that were wired directly into the inputs of the radio. Any ideas?
  12. Wow, nearly $600!. My car is Basalt Black. I presume since your car is red you went with Speed Lingerie? Is their quality fit and finish that much better? I havent been told the price of the OEM from Porsche yet to be able to better evaluate. Jon Speed Lingerie has them in your body color available with 5 days lead time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  13. How is the fit? I hate sloppy looking bras. Any close up's of your install?
  14. How could it be a nose bra for the 987S wont be in for another 2 months. Any one know where I could order it to get it sooner? :drive:
  15. Just took delivery of my 987 S. I will pictures up soon. Basalt Black Metallic with sand biege sport seats. Anyone have the same issues as me......the reception of the radio is horrible. Moreover, the "treble" seems to fade in and out, perhaps due to the reception problems. I am not sure. My last 997 als could never tune to 87.7 where the local news station plays. It will only tune to 87.9. Any way around this???????? XM or Sirus radio will be getting my business if I can't get this figured out. Jon
  16. How often did you clean out the filter? Isnt it fairly well consealed as to not suck up too much outside dirt? I spoke with EVO. They said they will have an intake out for the 987/S in two months. Should sound relatively the same. It is the same engine. And yes the EVO sound is awesome, I have one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  17. I get my 987 S in less than 10 days. My last 986 had a cold air intake installed. The sound of the air getting sucked into the intake was awesome. Over 5000 RPM it sounded even better. I want to do the same on my 987 but my rep tells me that the baffles, exhaust, etc have been redone and that the car is louder than before. He says installing the cold air intake may make it that much louder. I dont mind the sound ( :) ) but he also warned me of the check engine light coming on. I remember on my 986 I was told the same but I never had that problem in the 3 years I owned it. I have test driven the 987 S and it sounds different. Any ideas on how a cold air intake will affect this new setup? Or, if the check engine light is old news that I need not worry about. I am thinking of getting an EVO COld Air Intake. Any thoughts on this? Jon
  18. Eagleday sells a kit that says is good for my 987. Do you know why that 997 owner took out the B&M and put in the OEM?
  19. My 987 S, 6 speed is arriving in less than 2 weeks. I ordered it to my specs but was not aware of the short shifter. The dealer says the throws on the new 6 speed are 35% shorter than the last. My last 986 I installed an aftermarket short shifter. A bit notchier, but shorter throws and I liked that. Does anyone know if it's worth it to get the short shifter on my new 987? If yes, then should I go for the OEM or aftermarket? If aftermarket, does anyone know if the existing 04 parts will fit the 05? Thanks :drive:
