    Yea. Sounds like master cylinder. I wonder if the MS was low in fluid and from clutch operation air got into the lines.

    No prob.Bad pictures i know ,my camera skills are as bad as the bose system . Im sure anyone can do this mod for less than $1000 . The pdx 5 amp is available online for $360 US now. Head unit is up to the individual. Im sure you can find a din style unit with sat/nav etc for under $500. Prices now are cheap compared to 2 years ago. It cost me around 2k i think once all was said and done. And yes. The bose system is quite sad. I found it to be a paradox driving a relatively high end sports car with a less than satisfactory sound system.

    You can see the center speaker and to the left of it is the GPS sensor. The HU is all touch screen btw. On start up i programmed the porsche icon to display for 5 seconds as the HU boots up. I have had the unit for a few years now and am pretty impressed with it. Sat nav is great(garmin) bluetooth is phenomenal for hands free calling.

    Here is the amp which resides in the front boot as they call it . The RCAs run through the firwall and behind the battery, there is a rubber plug which can be punctured to run the RCAs to the HU. The speaker wires simply run to the bose amp plug which is lower and to the right near the tool kit.The plastic door closes over the amp so you never see it. The hole cut in the mesh around the amp is for the handle of the plastic door to set in, other wise the door would not close. The mesh BTW is not needed , it just hides wires and an open space.

    The bose speakers are 2 ohm which is why i used an alpine pdx 5 amp. Outputs are 2 ohm. Excellent amp BTW. As for the euromotorspeed harness? No idea. I installed my HU a few years ago so a harness was not available. It was no problem tapping into the factory bose harness. The bezel i bought in the UK. Cant remember the company off hand but can probably dig it up. I will try and find some pictures.

    Its actually not hard to do. The bose amp goes away,the stock cdr24 goes away.The fiber optic loop gets disconnected and abandoned. The new head unit goes in.The new amp goes where ever you can fit it. The wiring from the bose amp has to be figured out with a multimeter for the speaker connections. Head unit gets wired up typically like any aftermarket amp. Amp gets wired to the speakers . Thats it. My head unit alone was around 1500 IIRC.If your not familiar with installing car audio i would get a shop to do it. Makes a huge difference in sound quality + all the goodies like bluetooth,gps etc etc with an aftermarket head unit. All the stories about error messages after dissconnecting the fiber optic loop are not true. You can switch everything out with no problems and everything is reversible if you resell and want the stock system back in. If your not in the know, you would not know that my system is not stock.Does not look out of place .

    Yup. Canadians are all too aware that UPS is a rip off but nothing you can do about it. I have refused UPS parcels, but then the shipper will charge restocking fees. Its water under the bridge now. Canadians really get screwed over not only by shippers like UPS but just the difference in costs when you cross the border. I usually deal with US companies,bought my Porsche in California and Airstream in Seattle Wa,and will continue to shop in the US. Get this. You can buy a skidoo in the US which is made by Bombardier in Quebec Canada for $5000 +, less than you can buy direct from Bombardier or a dealer in Canada. Makes no sence. The problem with that is once you get the machine into Canada often the manufacturer wont honour their warranty because it was bought in the US. Canada is playing catch up and now its no longer worth it to buy say a toyota truck in the US because once you pay all the taxes,12%, brokerage fees which are minimal if you broker it yourself and then the duty which is $$$, then RIV (registrar of imported vehicles) and then have to have the vehicle inspected. You might as well buy in Canada. Anyways. :) Cheers Logray :)

    Nope. No Nafta. I did call cssa though and they said they have no control over what shipping co,s can charge on brokerage fees. They can bend you over any which way they feel they can get away with. I could have had the adapter shipped to a US address and crossed the border and brokered it myself which would cost about $10. But my time driving down, dealing with CSSA, bla bla bla ,2 hours later, is it worth it? I asked LN engineering before i bought the goods if they would ship USPS, they said no because there is no tracking. USPS is excellent and their fees are realistic.UPS is a complete rip off. I did send LN engineering a note on how UPS treats customers and their fees. Put it this way. I had some Wetekole seat covers shipped to me from Hawaii for my truck. They arrived a few days ago in a huge box.36" x 24" x 10" Cost me $30 shipped USPS. The box from LN Engineering was 1/2 cu/ft. 6"x6"x6" = $98.00

    News Flash. I recieved my stuff today from LN engineering. Initially i was charged $35 ups shipping. When i got the package, UPS tacked on an additional $62.50 in brokerage fees. What a bunch of ****ing crooks. I hate UPS with a passion. So. $171.60 with shipping. After i got it $234.10 :(

    Its ordered, got a discount from LN engineering on the package which was adapter,filter and magnetic drain plug. Changing oil and filter has never been so exciting.:)

    Hi. Thinking of installing the above . Does the filter end up hanging too low?Any problems with this adapter that i have not heard of ? Is it worth while? Thanks

    Bose was not a done deal as it was made out to be.Total farce come to think of it. Replacing the head unit and amp was a fairly easy job with huge benefits. Your options now are replace everything,speakers, headunit, and add subs and amp. Nice car BTW.

    With my 06 i have to be real close to the door before it will open. Range sucks to say the least on my particular car anyways. Might try that.

    Yup. the plastic ball joint on the control arm either broke or popped off. It will be white and you will see it with the deck lid up. They break all the time and you cannot just buy the balljoint. You have to buy the arm too. My OPC charged me $80 CDN.     Just repair the wiring. Its no big deal. A pair of wire strippers,soldering gun,heat shrink,and a length of loom to cover the damage. easy peasy. I would disconnect the battery first.I assume that the plug is ok and you know which colors go where.

    I see LN engineering has an oil filter adapter so you can run regular spin on oil filters on 987s.They say its a far better set up than factory as all the oil gets filtered and none gets bypassed.     START.. Get in and drive away but drive non agressively until the motor warms. STOP. If the car is very hot i would let it run for a minute to get the temp down. If its in the normal range just shut it down. DRIVE.I myself drive aggressively about 10% of the time but thats just me. I baby my cars and they baby me back.

    Ok. so i was in Walmart minding my own business and i see the consumer reports mag at the stand. I look inside just curious as to how they rate the boxster. well.. In bold black letters...."Consumer reports no longer recommends the boxster due to reliability issues" or something to that effect. Where do they gather their stats from? I wish i could find the report online with all the stats and examine it more closely. I find this surprising. Comments very welcome.
