    Call me CRAZY... I found Sears had a sale on their floor jacks... so I bought 4. Works Great... Looks something like this.... I throw in jackstands just in case...

    I have the shop manuals for my C2 MY03 996... The only jackpoints that are mentioned are the 4 points by each tire. I have not been able to find any mention of the engine jack point (only saw it here in the DIY section). It specifically mentions to not jack at any other place on the vehicle. Anyone have any info on this??

    Changed my fluid on my 996 MY03 C2. Everyone told me not to... "you only have 13,600 miles!". What came out of the transmission was barely red and full of brown suspended matter (old, burnt, and decayed ATF fluid). The new fluid is pink/red and completely transparent... I am glad I did not wait... Obviously, the fluid goes bad from sitting over the years. BTW, I purchased the "Porsche charging hose" for MY02 and newer 996. This is the best way to refill the tranny. $40 from Sunset Imports! I placed the charging hose on the bug sprayer setup and presto....easy to refill your tranny! I used Porsche approved Fuchs ATF 3353 plus (Titan) I found at Pelican Parts. AND, it is very important to note that the overflow plug needs to be put back BEFORE you turn off the engine...or glup...glup...glup... you will waste a liter of fluid! :o

    Smart choice... I also picked up a C2 2003 coupe with 12,200 miles... I preferred less moving parts and less drive-train joints and boots to wear out and need attention. Also, you got the better 996 engine! Enjoy!

    Are these are just for the sake of emissions? If so I don't think I am incredibly concerned with the dilution of CO. Unfortunately, performance lacks when this system is not operating correctly. You definitely lose some punch in the pedal!

    My experience with this code is not good! As Loren states, it is ANY of these problems. And sometimes based on age... more than 1 on the list. Can be a little pricey when replacing the Sec air pump and changeover valve (parts and time). I tried to be cheap and replace one item at a time... First replace all vacuum line...then replace sec air pump...problem occurred less often... Replaced pump AGAIN...replace change-over valve...All Better! My change over valve had frozen and was allowing the air to flow the reverse direction... this resulted in moisture building up in my sec air pump and killing each slowly. Good luck!

    Find a new place to live! :D Seriously though, B and C--I'd use a car cover. A decent one will set you back about $250-300; the more you spend the better it breathes and keeps moisture from building. After rainstorms you should remove it carefully and shake it out to make sure the cover doesn't cling to your paint and cause fine scratches. If you wash your car regularly and use the cover, you should have no problem from birds, sap, dust, etc. Don't get a cover that says anything on it. A big Porsche logo screenprint is an excuse for some idiot to key your car or ding it. Try to find a cover with a window for your license plate, or flip it over the bumperettes in the back. Depending on where you live you could get a ticket or nastygram from apt. management if your plate is hidden. And be careful with the cover on the exhaust tips! Keep it away from them if they're hot. Mark Good Info. If you live in a wet area... Wait until you have to stuff your soaking wet cover into the trunk the first time. Also, It must breath Very Well or you may encourage corrosion. Great for keeping the plastic from fading! Cheers.

    Check out Pelican... FGR 5KQE0 ... http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopca...n_pg1.htm#item0 I was impressed that Pelican got the ATF fluid right per 10/08 Porsche updates. BTW Pelican was the only place I found the Porsche approved ATF for under $10/qt... That beats $35/qt from the dealer. Maybe they have the correct Spark plug suggestion.

    Hello, I am looking to DIY my Tiptronic tranny to a fluid change. I did all my homework and have the Porsche approved Fuchs ATF 3353 and the Porsche hose for MY2002+ fluid replacement is on its way.... Anyway, my question is how urgent is the oil change to the Final Drive? My 996 only has 13,500 miles and is 6 years old. I think 6 years is enough time for the ATF... But, what about the final drive? How often miles or years should it be replaced? Also, is there any problem using the "bug sprayer" custom ATF pump for both services (ie. there would be some residual fluid or oil left in the pump). Cheers!

    I have these tires... and I am afraid I cannot be much help. I just purchased my 996 with 12,200 miles and these were brand new in plastic when I took delivery. (I now have 13,500) They seem to ride nice. They are 18's and I cannot complain of any tread noise or hum...but, the low profile tires and lack of Porsche insulation make for a ride that is much louder than a Lexus. But, on previous cars and short sidewalls (30-35 size), I can say these ride quiet so far. I had 3 sets of Toyo's and each started out very quiet and later developed an irritating hum and ALL dried and cracked before I even came close to the mileage warranty. Cheers! :D
