  1. Hi guys,

this might sound a bit silly or a bit basic, but sometimes an easy fix is a good fix. Try taking the carpet out from the rear trunk and then the wood panels out. Take it for a drive up the street with these out and see if the problem is fixed. I found the wood panels in my trunk were making a noise at low speeds over bumps. I ended up just putting some felt under them and the problem was solved!

  2. Yeah we have double sided velcro here in Aus, but is the adhesive side strong enough to stick to the carpet?

I mounted my sub last night in the place where I wanted (next to the console on the passenger side) using a couple of zip-clips. There were some conveniently located tabs located behind the console covers that I could run a zip clip through and then through the mounting tabs of the sub. Holds it well and you can see any zip clips. Looks almost factory, very happy!

  3. Hello from Oz as well! Where abouts are you located, your boxster looks lovely.

I have a Focal 8" under seat sub in there now and the bass is fantastic! Just working out how to secure it and velcro sounds like a clever idea (I want to have it against the centre consol aiming at the passengers feet) But the problem is, velcro doesn't stick to this carpet... Should I just screw it into that transmission tunnel part of the centre console or is there a better way you guys have done it?

  4. Can you suggest some speakers that would work nicely. Is the 3 way with the 6.5" woofer installed in the door really that much better? Basically these are my choices:

*Stock speakers with high pass filter

    *Aftermarket 4" splits

*Aftermarket 6.5" splits (woofer retro fitted in door, tweeter in stock location)

*Aftermarket 3 way splits, tweeter and mid in dash stock location, woofer in door)

    Whats your recomendation?

    Regards,

    Sam

  5. Hi guys,

yes they are just the stock dash speakers, and no, I don't have the door woofers. I plan on adding a Focal 8" or 10" powered slim sub very soon though which will take care of the low notes. Will definately play with the high pass much further then on the fronts. The other thing I have coming is a rear speaker install to bring some notes up to ear level.

Curious - thinking about replacing the front speakers with a 3 way component speaker such as Focal units 165KRX3. Is it worth the expense of the 3-way's, or should I just get some quality 4" splits or not bother replacing the dash speakers at all?

  6. Hi guys,

today I installed a pioneer headunit into my 97 RHD boxster and after putting it in and taking it out a few times I am finally happy with its mounting position. Only problem is, suddenly I have lost half of my interior control.... I've lost:

*central locking (through switch on dash, alarm remote and through the key in the door)

    *demister switch is not working

*All interior lights not working (as in both boots and the cabin light)

*Window control (they will go down that little bit if I open the door, but not back up again. Neither switch is working in either direction either)

I have checked all related fuses and there are no problems. I think it may be related to the left hand side switches next to the head unit, although the top controll button is still working (although not illuminating) and the cigarette lighter works and illuminates. The other switches there are not illuminating and are not working (which I think may be affecting the others)

Can anyone suggest something to look at? I cant drive the car like this as the windows are stuck a bit of the way down....

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam

  7. Hi Guys,

I am installing this kit with a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD head unit. The double din install kit says to ground the handbrake wire to bypass the handbrake part. The Pioneer manual says to put it on the "power" side of the handbrake switch. When I ground this switch, I get a black screen (no DVD image) and when I apply 12v to it I get the standard pioneer background. Can anyone help with this?

    Sam

**EDIT** Just had to re-set the unit, now the toggle is working fine :) Thanks.

  8. yes sorry - globe is aussie for bulb :)

Its a 986 RHD with the digital clock in the instrument cluster. I can see its still working, just not illuminated like the other two digital displays. Thanks for the location of those two screws, that was exactly what I was hoping to learn!

  9. Hi,

can someone please point me in the direction of a guide that will show me how to replace a dash glob (one behind the clock) or failing that, give me some breif steps to follow?

I have searched and found a similar thread but the answer was to look at other guides (that I cant find....)

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam
