  1. hey guys! thanks for the inputs. unfortunately the problem might be bigger. car is at the dealer already but they are still awaiting word from Germany since they had to refer the case to them. their initial finding was the ECU of the PDK is messed up! this sucks..... 2. Hi guys! It's been awhile since I last posted... Anyway the day which I have been fearing since the time I bought this new technology has finally arrived!!! After 12,000 km in my 09 CS, i finally encountered a problem with my PDK tranny. Since I have been traveling alot the past few weeks, I took the car out for the first time after 2 months. Car seemed to work pretty well until late afternoon. I went to my inlaws house, parked the car in the middle of the driveway, about 30 mins later I started the car again and when I tried to shift it to "D" the shifter wouldn't shift and move (can't get it out of "P")!!! Tried to turn off the engine and turn it on again several times but the problem would continue to exist. A friend told me to try to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes which would allow the system to reset but even that didn't work. In fact after I reconnected the battery, a PSM Failure message started to appear. Has anyone experienced this problem or has any idea of what might have gone wrong? Cheers! Godspeed! 3. if you were in the U.S. i would say go for it.... but considering we only have one POrsche dealer here in the country, it's not worth risking your warranty. Just consider it as cost of owning a Porsche in the RP :-) I'm sure just like many of us, you bought a car from PGA primarily because of the warranty support considering you can buy a car from the grey market for much less but without warranty support.
  4. Hey guys, Has anyone reflashed their gen2 997 carrera s? If not, has anyone done any research? What kind of gains are expected if it was a straight reflash and not modifying the exhaust system? Will any faults appear or can it be detected when plugged into the computer during service? Thanks in advance! Godspeed!
  5. Sorry for the late update guys. Anyway apparently the dealer over filled my car by about 3/4 of a liter. While draining the oil, I was surprised to find out that the dfi engine didn't have a manual dip stick to check for oil level. I figured the dealer wasn't able to check oil level when they filled it up, considering the only way to check it is by using the on board computer which won't work until the engine is fully warmed up. Does the 997.1 engine have a dip stick? In my 996 GT3 mk1, the car is equipped with both.
  6. Hi Guys, Since I got the 10,000km check up on my '09 Carrera S PDK wherein the dealership change my engine oil, my on-board computer keeps on indicating "check oil level". However the oil level is full. Have you guys experienced this? Thanks and Godspeed!
  7. Thanks Loren! This is such a big help! :renntech:
  8. Hi Guys, Has anyone had experience in mounting a original porsche fire extinguisher in the front passenger floor? I believe the 996 gt3 rs had the same set-up. If so, where in the floor did you guys bolt the clamp to? Many thanks in advance! Cheers!
  9. Hi Guys, I finally got around to getting my car fixed. Apparently when the mechanic put my tranny back together the first time around, he messed up by putting the 5th gear where the 6th gear is supposed to be and vice versa. Didn't think it was possible... It was a bad experience but what's important my car is running perfectly now and with my new mods in place (final drive, light weight fly wheel and racing clutch) I'm just so glad the worst is over and I'm just looking forward to the miles ahead I will enjoy with my car...! Cheers!
  10. Earlier today, it was the first time i was really able to test all of the gears of my GT3 after I had changed the final drive of my car. When I was driving along the freeway, the car had good power and acceleration from 1st to 4th gear. When I got to 5th gear I noticed the power and torque dropped significantly (it wasn't linear) which I thought was just my imagination. Anyway I just continued to drive my car around to test it further and each time I would shift from 4th to 5th I kept on feeling the same drop in torque and power. BUt this is where it gets twisted....each time I would shift from 5th to 6th, it was as if the car was down shifting! At this point I felt the 5th gear was the real 6th gear and the 6th gear was the real 5th gear!!!! When I talked to a friend, he advised me to run the car constantly at 100kph on 4th, 5th and 6th gears and check the corresponding rpm. The following are the results: 4th - 3,800 rpm 5th - 2,700 rpm 6th - 3,300 rpm! After doing the tests, right there and then I knew there was really something wrong.... Just to give a brief history on the work done to my car, besides changing the final drive we changed the clutch system and changed some synchronizers and one gear component of the tranny. Basically to change the synchronizers and the gear, they had to dismantle some of the gears. So my question is, is it possible that they messed up the assembly and accidentally mixed up / switched the 5th and 6th gear? What a weird and frustrating experience!
  11. Not only the deal is off... but it seems Porsche is experiencing big time financial problems and I heard their R&D is taking a big hit because of budget cutting. There were articles that even claim Porsche was insolvent for several days during March. I also feel sorry for Wiedeking... A few months ago it seemed like he was a CEO that did everything right... unfortunately now it seems he was a CEO that did everything wrong.
  12. Hey guys, Just want to share this video my good friend put together showing clips of our last track day. The Macadamia 997 PDK is my car. The GTR and the STI was being driven my a F3 driver (man i hate to say it but the GTR is an amazing car). During the "playtime" between the PDK and the GTR, we were a bit cautious in twisty parts of the track but on areas of the track wherein we can really push the car... we try to go all out. What surprised me the most, if you look into 2:28 of the video (in the main stretch) my friend told me considering the GTR was in my slipstream, and that the GTR had 145 more hp, he couldn't seem to overtake me (and he was trying to)! We were trying to recon why...and we ended up with a conclusion that the hot weather affected the turbo power of the GTR and likewise since we only have 96 octane fuel available, the 530hp of the GTR wasn't being maximized. Without being bias I have to say PDK rocks! :jump: Enjoy! Godspeed! http://www.viddler.com/explore/hesperus/videos/2/
  13. Just wanted to ask you...Having spent many years in the Philippines myself..Where the heck do you drive your Gt3? Are you in Luzon? Early (and I mean early) morning runs to Batangas? Just curious.. Hey phillipj! When was the last time you were in the Philippines? Yup I stay in Luzon. In the recent years North Luzon Express Way (main highway going Baguio) was rehabilitated. So we take this route and usually drive upto Pampang area and drive back to Manila for breakfast. Pretty decent roads which is enough for super cars here in the RP to stretch theirs legs! Recently there was also a newly opened highway SCTEX (its a highway connecting Subic - Clark - Tarlac). If the group wants to drive a longer route, this is what we would take. Currently the government is rehabilitating South Express Way. Soon, once fixed driving to Tagayaty amd Batangas will be more leisurely. We also have track days here. As of the moment there are two tracks. One in Batangas and another in Subic. However Batangas track is a better choice. We usually go once a month. However we are look forward to new race track being built in Clark. Godspeed!
  14. Hi guys! thanks for the inputs! And yes it better to be safe than sorry. :renntech: I pray my problems would be minor like a faulty sensor or my systems just needs bleeding and filling up of coolant. I will ask my mechanic to initially flush my radiator system and fill it up fresh coolant likewise make sure the system has no air. Keep you guys posted. Godspeed!
  15. Hi Guys! What temp does your gauge normally read once your car is fully warmed up? Also several times now, when I take my car out particularly in the morning (after the car has been garaged), after the first time I drive the car hard, the warning light in the temp gauge starts blinking. Each time this happens I turn of the engine quickly for a few seconds and start it up again....after which the blinking warning light is gone. And when I drive the car hard again it doesn't light up anymore for the rest of the day! It's quite weird but has any of you guys experienced this. Wonder what's going on....
