  1. Appreciate the tips, thank you! I’m hearing some squeakiness from the passenger seat so will try to get that checked out, too!
  2. Hi everyone, Long time lurker and finally bought my first 911 last month! Really excited about ownership (moving up form an E46 M3 vert 6 spd which I’ve owned for 13 years and will continue to keep!). So...first order of business is getting the coolant pipe fixed. Only 23k miles so it’s a bit unfortunate but no coolant light on and it took about 2 quarts of the 50/50 coolant & distilled water mix to top it up. Bought the car with the pink stains and coolant level in pictures, before topping up. Parking it for now, don’t want to drive it until I get it repaired. I did some inquiries and independents are now charging around $2k for the job, parts and labor included. This includes a new water pump and thermostat. I read that independents used to charge around $1.5k but maybe I’m facing the NJ/NYC metro surcharge. My question is, what other preventative maintenance items would you add to the list? I want to establish a baseline even though the car only has 23k miles. So far I have: 1. Water pump 2. Thermostat 3. Coolant hoses (plastic/rubber—maybe leave the metal pipes?) 4. Belts and pulleys 5. All fluids flush: brake, transmission, diff, power steering - which brands do you recommend? 6. Vacuum pump (mine is pretty rusted, picture attached) 7. Engine and transmission mounts (thinking RSS) 8. ??? For mods, I’m leaning on: 1. SSK: Numeric 2. Suspension: KW HAS coilover spring kit 3. Exhaust: full iPE exhaust - not sure about compatibility with PSE button in the cabin. Also thinking of Soul Performance but unsure. Not considering Fabspeed or Sharkwerks at the moment but I guess I could be convinced if there’s a good deal. Akrapovic would also be a dream come true! 4. Heard about the DTC controller, and since I have a 4 GTS Cabrio 6 spd, not sure what I have by way of PASM and whether this mod is applicable to/would benefit me Please feel free to add your experiences or advice! Thank you.
  3. I checked out the specs on the new 991 and 7-spd manual transmission?!?! that's awesome! especially for my long road trips...
  4. great, thanks for addressing that! I just went through the 2009 order guide for the 911, conveniently available on this site, and there are so many options I want!!! This is going to be interesting...I just checked out porsche.com's US pre-owned inventory and I see that there are limited MT cars available, all in the $90K range, which is well above my budget so I'll continue to do my homework. I'm hoping the new chassis will put some downward pressure on the 997.2 asking prices. Would be sweet if I could buy a member's car off him/her, to free them up to buy the new chassis. Wow, 400HP!! Also, what year was the GTS introduced? so much to learn...
  5. Here's a link for the single '09 C2S Cabrio in manual transmission (forgot to mention that's a requirement!) that I found on ebay. I'll be sure to search for all the best options available, e.g. PASM, etc. http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item5648f62947
  6. Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself...I appreciate how this forum is more technical than the forums I've been on before. I joined 2 years ago when I first wanted to research my childhood dream car, and I'm expecting ownership to become a reality in the next 12-18 months. I'm looking exclusively at the 2009 C2/4S Cabrio. I'll be sure to scour all the issues that members have encountered; I'm curious about this "IMS" thing I've seen mentioned... I've owned a 2 2004 M3 Cabrios since 2007 and its been my favorite daily (first one) and weekend (second one) driver thus far, until I had a 2004 C2S Cabrio for 2 weeks as an insurance rental. I absolutely loved that car, and I'm sure the 385HP from the 997.2 will more than satiate my appetite for higher performance (the 2004 C2S didn't feel like it had the same oomph as my very heavy M3 vert did, for some reason). I've always kept my cars bone stock, so I'm hoping to get lucky with a one-owner clean car...thank you everyone for reading! I'm also curious about the "Retail Price checks" mentioned in the moderator's threads on top, available to Contributing Members. Might pay for that feature, sounds interesting.
