  1. You did not respond with what type code reader you are using. Do a quick check on the clutch switch...make sure it is working.
  2. Did you check relays? (not fuses). Just an FYI....I took a battery out of mine, took it to an Interstate battery shop...it tested good...Bought a new battery anyway and my problems were solved...I don't trust those testers. The ground wires I was suggesting you check are for the starter/battery not your stereo. Of course check all connections. Did you try jump starting it?
  3. When you say no codes, what reader are you using? When my immobilizer went there were no messages reported...just dead. Unfortunately the install of the stereo may be related, but for now its just correlation not causation...that said, Porsches' are very sensitive to batteries...if the battery went dead, trickle charging can not resurrect it. Do you know the "new" battery is good? Check ground cables...

  5. I have a 2004 TT Cab. There is no third button on the US version. USDOT does not permit this...Just get the smarttop and be done with it.

  7. may be more than one issue. First, there may be an issue with the car accepting fuel...check the fuse, vent valve, charcoal canister. I'm not sure if it so with the cab, but on the TT, the gas tank has a hump in it with the fuel sensor in the upper hump...therefore if the tank is not filled, the readings can be off....not sure if this is the configuration on your car... for the car not starting (assuming there is fuel)....this could be fuel pump or ruptured fuel line (in the tank).
  8. Many of these type issues (and subsequent strange codes) are a function of a less than optimum battery. Porsche are very sensitive to battery conditions. Having the electrical equipment working with the battery will NOT insure it will start the car. Even some batteries that test good do not supply enough juice to start the car.
  9. You're missing Loren's point (I think). Doing analysis of oil extracted is not really analyzing the oil properly. It is a biased sample of the oil which likely will not contain some of the contaminants possibly present in your oil.

  12. As I posted elsewhere, my guess would be a leak somewhere in your system. Do a pressure check. It could be DVs themselves or waste gates. I doubt it's the flash, but the flash does mean you are putting more stress on the system perhaps.
  13. Buying durametric essentially is buying the cable...the software is downloaded from the site and is easily upgraded as you connect the cable to your confuser and then to your car's OBD port. You run the software on your windows OS (either on a pc or a mac that runs windows). I'm sure BT is available on the net as well.
  14. connections are not the issue as the OBD ports are fairly universal. What is not universal is the coding and ability to reset codes. For Porsche the best piece of equipment for this (not including PST2 and PIWIS) is durametric.

  16. Yes, they will stay lit for some time(not sure exactly, but 1 hour isn't unusual)and then go off. Both will go on if either lid is opened.

  19. Does anybody actually have any data regarding the coolant connections? I mean how many failures are there? Sorry, I'm a statistician and I get provoked when folks post information claiming this is a "bound to happen" event in which we are not sure of the causal structure (what factors/interactions lead to failure). I spent half of what the X50 (or S) version was for more than twice the HP and torque. Been driving it since 2006 with all mods. No issues related to mods.
