  1. Hi, I am not sure how to do that, or have the equipment to measure. Its on my list "to do" though, if these easy things dont fix it thanks for your help
  2. ok thanks. just swapped the dme and the fuel pump relay with others.
  3. Just swapped the cam sensors over from left to right and still does the same thing; cut out during warm up... Not sure what to try next????
  4. Hi, Driving my 2000my 996 c4 the other day. a couple miles after starting when the car was still warming up it just cutout. tried to restart and it just cranked over and would not fire. After a few minutes it started fine and I drove off. A few miles later exactly the same thing happened... I put my vag obd2 reader on and no codes were displayed. after reading the forums it looked like the crank sensor was the likely culprit so i have just bought a new one and replaced today. Started the car up in the garage and about 3 or 4 minutes of idling during warm up it cutout just the same. after a few minutes it starts fine again. So what next?? I also read that the cam sensor may be the issue. I have located them and they look very difficult to remove and replace. When investigating more on the left bank one is conected to any wires. the r/h side one is in place but not connected to anything? Firstly is this correct? I guess so as I can not find any loose connectors that may have come off. If so I was going to see if I can swap the two over rather than buying a new one. Looks like the AOS will need to be removed though for the l/h one. Any other thoughts on what it could be. I am trying to source a durametric kit at the moment as maybe my obd2 is not seeing all the codes.
  5. Hi, The front top mounts were shot on mine. depending on your mileage and budget these might be worth considering. Mine had approx 98000 miles on the clock....
  6. Hi, stupid question maybe but here goes... The butterfly appears still to be stiff to open on mine. Can it be opened by hand on a 2000 model C4 manual. I don't want to break anything?? thanks
  7. HI, Its looks like I have a leak similar to this. Does anyone have any experience of changing the tensioner seal. How do you lock the cams? What tooling is needed thanks Jetbox
  8. my 2000 c4 hasd a slight weep from the hose just behind the one in the photo. There must be a quite a few 996 with "old" coolant hoses on now... Does anyone sell and kit of hoses? After 10 years I think they could do with replacement jetbox
  9. Isn't there a dedicated P code for bad O2 sensor? I've been having CEL issues for the past 3 months which led to new plugs, packs, and replacement of lifters. During the entire time, we never saw a code for O2 sensors. So my question is if you think replacing a $150 dollar part would be a wise? I don't know if the P car oxygen sensors are known to go bad without throwing out error codes... Thanks for your help everyone. Hi, I am by no means an expert but my experience may help. I had a tank vent valve go bad which caused the l/h bank to run slightly lean giving some fault codes. I believe the vent valve purges fuel vapour fumes from the fuel tank (carbon canister). Could this be related to the 1/2 full tank and cel you are experiencing? Those that understand the system better will be able to explain more. But I think there could be a link Hope this helps Jetbox
  10. Hi, could this simply be down to use? In the uk on my normal route to work I have lots of roundabouts which for me always cause heavier tire wear on the left hand side tyres. Just a thought??? jetbox
  11. Apologies for the maybe slightly stupid question but... How do you read the fault codes, is there an idiots guide and what do most people on here use? I have vcds for vw/adui cars which also has a generic OBD reader, will this work on the 996. No problem on the car yet (touch wood) but it would be useful to be prepared thanks jetbox
