  1. Hi, I am trying to write up schematics for making DIY module to put into my 997 C2 so car could turn on/off low beams automatically as any other modern cars do. First idea was to cut into wires from light switch but after studying wiring diagram I also see some other input named 'switch automatic light' that goes to contact A33 in onboard comp. Does anybody know what is it for? on light switch it sits on contact A2. Or is it that 'Home' selector mode? I did not try to take light selector off so I did not check yet what is what. Just trying to do preliminary design so far and then will try to find suitable sensor kit from other brands. Have anyone tried to do such a project before? I drive in tunnels quite often here in MA so it finally annoyed me for car not to be smart enough to turn on lights when it`s dark. I plan to put it on 'Home' selector dial so it could just sit there indefinitely - this 'Home' mode is useless anyway.
  2. Hi, I will try to get some support tomorrow as yesterday was not quite helpful - I got original navigation and also mobridge unit installed yesterday. Navigation works fine but Mobridge gives issues. it establishes contact with ipod and i can pair my phone with it but PCM does not see it at all. On pressing tel button system responds - no telephone available, pressing CD twice for cd changer shows 'cd changer: no cd'. optical ring is intact as if i unplug optical cable from mobridge unit i loose navigation, i can see light in cable, so it seems to be alive. is there any mobridge guru here who can advice? i am trying to work with seller who sold me unit but he does not seem to know much on how to troubleshoot and supposes issue may be related to the fact that my car never had cd changer installed originally. mobridge support wasn`t quite helpful yet. may be i`ll get more help from them tomorrow as yesterday dealer could not even get in touch with them - calls were not returned. Unit was originally for MBZ but seller says he re-flashed it for Porsche. My car is 997 C2 with PCM 2.1. Dealer tried all combinations with PIWIS to enable and disable components - nothing helped. I am not sure what to look at, unit obviously seems to be alive and powered up but PCM does not see it. Why?
  3. Hi, Somehow while removing back seat cushion its front velcro panel decided to disengage from locks and came up with a seat. Who would think it was something removable there. But it was. Looking at rear seat mat it is not that obvious how to get under it now. Is there any trick to put that velcro panel back? Simple attempt to press it down back in place does not work. Or only way now is to lift floor mat, remove side wall mats and then try to get access under seat mats? Good grief...
  4. I gave up and picked new kit from sunset for $2395. Pricey, not sure if was worth it.
  5. Hi, Are all wheels at this site http://shop.wheelsrims.net replicas or fakes or do they actually sell original refurbished rims? Does anybody know anything about them?
  6. My question was mostly about what exact offset, backspace should 18x11 rim have in order to fit properly into regular 997 C2 car? It is not as clear as I expected that to be, couple places i called could not answer that for me. Everybody seems to know sizes for 19" rims but not for 18".
  7. Hi, I am a non-smoker so I wonder if anyone knows of any aftermarket or original parts like sunglasses holder etc what I could put in there instead of standard ashtray. Forgot to mention - it is for 997 C2. I saw ashtray delete thing for 996 but not sure if it fits 997.
  8. Hi, I have regular 2006 997 C2 for about a week now. It came to me on regular carrera classic rims, standard size - 18x8 front and 18x10 rear. With winter tires on them. So I started shopping for new set of rims. I still cannot get proper idea of what rim sizes do fit into C2. One wheel dealer told me C2 can take up to 12" wide rear rims. I see regular option for rear is 19x11 inches. I have a friend who has his 18" 996 turbo rims for sale. but I cannot get any sort of confirmation if widebody 996 turbo rims can fit 997 C2. I also do not see any option on tirerack for 18" rims wider than 10". Is there any specific reason why 19" rims can go 11 and 11.5" wide and 18" rims cannot? I wanted to get 18" lightest rims preferably 11" wide so I could mount 295 or 305 wide tires on them. I do not care about 19" or 20", just want light rims and wide tires. Can I do that on C2 or not? Can anybody explain all that to me please? What offset I need and what options do exist for that?
  9. Thanks, will do. I assume now all I need is to get DVD drive 997 642 157 00. Plus sensor and wiring. Will try to find it somewhere.
  10. Hi, I tried to search multiple forums but did not found a comprehensive guide that could help me to identify how to proceed with this task. I have 2006 997 C2. No CD changer, no BOSE. I assume it has PCM 2.1. Main+Trip button on my PCM shows this: Sw versions 4.0 System software Target: 05462ad1/4605 Pcm Target 05395bd1/4505 So my assumption is to make navigation work all I need is to add DVD unit and GPS sensor. I sent question to Porsche service manager I know about parts numbers but he found codes for entire kits that include master PCM units. So could anybody confirm - do I need or do I not need to replace master PCM unit? If not, how to determine without taking PCM unit out what part number is it and what DVD part number I need for it? Should it be horizontal or vertical? Could anybody with access to catalog help me to identify all that? My chassis from VIN is 9966S717370 I found links to https://techinfo.porsche.com/techinfo/pdf/e...USA_KATALOG.pdf but they do not work anymore. Can anybody help me please? PS. I found this web page http://www.autoatlanta.com/model/997-05-08/911-00.htm and it is helpful but again opens simple question - how to find out what do I have now? Is the only way to find out - to pull PCM unit out?
