I have a 2000 Boxster with a CDR-220 Type 4462 where the radio display is not working. The radio works fine but just cant see the display. When i start the car sometimes you can see the display starting to come on then it goes blank. Any one tell me what the problem is and how to fix? Thanks

I can think of three places the noise may be coming from, tire noise, brakes, or wheel bearings. Drilled brake rotors make a wup wup noise like a weedeater, wheel bearing noise changes with load on turns, and tire noise is speed dependant You can change ia pressure, maybe add a little to see if the noise changes. Most aggressive tires have noise, I've found the reviews on tirerack.com helpful about what brand is quieter. I have cheap tires, and they've been noisey since i bought the car, will try something different next time.
I'm accross the river if you want to meet up and compare noise, my S is one of the noisiest cars I've even owned, but wow. Chuck

Need recommendation on what kind of tires I should purchase. I currently have a lot of road noise coming from the rear of car. I have a 2000 Boxster 75,000 miles. Bought the car with Goodyear Eagle GT 255/40zR17. i think the noise is from tires not from bearings but not sure how to tell. Front tires are 205/50R17 so don't think i can rotate. Can anyone recommend tires that have low road noise?

I took my 2000 Boxster in to the dealer because the Airbag light was on. The dealer told me i would need to replace the belt buckle and wiring kit. The estimate for the repairs was $377. I decided not to do the repairs and asked him to reset the light. He reset it so the airbag light went off. This past weekend i was working on a horn problem and now the light is back on. Is thier a way to reset it to turn the light off without having to pay the dealer $60 to hook up the machine? Any help with be appreciated.
Sorry, but you need to fix the problem and then have the airbag reset.
If you order the buckles and do the under seat soldering you can save a bunch of money. Many folks here have done it (try our search).
Whenever you remove the steering wheel or either seat you should always disconnect the battery first AND keep the key out of the ignition.
When the key is in the ignition (even off) the airbag circuit is armed.
Thanks for the tip!

I have a 2000 Boxster and my driver side window has been giving me problems. When I have the top up, windows rolled up and I get out of the car the window should lower slightly when I pull the door handle however this is not happing anymore. My window still goes up and down when I am inside the car. When I close the door with windows still up the window hits the top of the window track. Any help would be appreciated.

Ibnole:
Once you get your hands on a micrometer, these are the specifications for the thickness of brake rotors on a Boxster (Boxter S dimensions are different):
Brake rotor wear limit
Front: 22 mm (0.866 in.)
Rear: 18 mm (0.709 in.)
By contrast, new brake rotor dimensions are:
Front: 24 mm (0.944 in)
Rear: 20 mm (0.787 in.)
Regards, Maurice.
Thanks so much!
