  1. I have a Gurads Red Carrera S cabriolet with Sand Beige interior. I would have preferred a coupe but when I got mine, it was a pretty good deal. I think Guard Reds, along with Speed Yellow, are going to be a bit harder to sell since most people want various shades of blue, black or silver. And those are the most common colors Porsche sale. Having said that, I love mine and I am sure you will love yours. Where in Canada are you located?
  2. I recently saw a coolant drain and fill on a 996 Turbo. I was alarmed and puzzled by the amount that was drained from the drain plug (seems like a lot more than 10 litre) than the amount that was put back in (around 10 litre). It was refilled using a SnapOn version of the UView Airlift. Since the 2005 and 2006 cars are hitting the 4-5 yrs mark, have anyone done a coolant flush on a 997 yet? If so, can you just drain from the drain plug or do you have to remove the underbody panels and disconnect some of the hoses as well to properly drain all the old coolant out? And if you just drain from the drain plug, did you get most of the 32 litre out according to the specs in the owner's manual? And more importantly, did you put close to what you drained out back into the system? Anyone has a link to a DIY guide?
  3. Anyone know what's the coolant capacity of the 997 Carrera S? My car has close to 60,000 km and it's almost 4.5 yrs old. I think it's time for a coolant change. I just need to know how much Porsche coolant I will need for the job. Thanks in advance.
  4. Have you tried it in the cab yet? I am looking for a booster seat that fits my 997 C4S and this one sounds perfect. No i have not. My daughter just turned 3 yrs old so I have at least another 12 mths to find the right seat. If you look at the link I posted at an earlier post in this thread, there is another seat that seems to work for the cab.
  5. Thanks for the pics Brent. I will give it a try and see how it fits in my cab. I note from what others have written in the past that what fits in the coupe doesn't necessary fit in the cab. But I think I will give the Maxi Cosi a try. You are absolutely right. $199 pale in comparison to the safety and comfort of my precious daughter.
  6. The maxi cosi has a full back that can be removed when they get older. It looks a bit narrower as well. I was able to get mine for $159 canadian. Brent Brent, can you post some pics of the setup? I currently use the Radian 80 and it's not pretty but it does kind of work. My daughter turns 4 in 11 months so I will be looking for something that fits better. where did you get your maxi cosi? All the places I looked at sell it for $199 CDN + taxes. I see you are in BC so maybe I am out of luck.
  7. Thanks for the heads-up. Any idea how this seat compare to the Combi Dakota discussed in this thread: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/31432-child-booster-seat/ It sounds like there is a big price difference. Having said that, I am more interested in finding out about which one fits best.

  9. Thank you both for the response. And Thanks Maurice for the offer. I am in Toronto and I don't know who has the equipment and am willing to do it for free. I called the two dealers in town and they are both charging close to $70 CDN ($65 USD) to turn the light off. It is my understanding that it takes 5 mins as well but they both claim it's a 20-30 mins job. Even the two independent mechanics are charging close to $60 CDN for the same job. The worse thing is that the dealers both acknowledged that this is a common thing and it's caused by the drained battery (low voltage fault) whereas one of the independent mechanic says there must be something else wrong (and this is over the phone!) I briefly consider getting the Durametric unit but for the price and the ridiculous amount they charge for shipping, plus the duties and taxes, I am not sure it's worth it. Even in the long run. Hopefully I have learned my expensive lesson and will remember to turn off the light from now on.
  10. So a couple days ago, I found my battery drained, the light was left on (after 3 mths, I am still not used to not having auto headlights. The car doesn't get driven a couple times a week anyway). Anyway, I used my trickle charger and re-charged the battery. Today when I took it out, the airbag light stays on the whole time. I have searched a few forums and it appears that if the battery is drained beyond a certain point, the airbag light comes on and stays on. What I have not been able to find out is how do I turn it off? Does it go off by itself eventually? Do I have to go to the dealer to have it reset (my car is 3 wks out of warranty) If you have encountered a similar circumstance, please let me know how it was resolved. Thanks in advance.
  11. Can anyone help? I am looking for an article in the June 2005 issue and another article in the December 2005 issue of Excellence magazine. In both cases, it's a test of the 997.1 Carrera S Cabriolet. If you have access to these articles and can email me a scan or picture of the them that will be greatly appreciated.
  12. I have a 2006 997 S. It has just under 34,000 miles. It is almost 4 yrs old. Porsche's maintenance schedule says spark plugs should be replaced every 60,000 miles or every 4 years. My dealer says I do not need to replace the spark plugs because I have not reached 60,000 miles. So when should I replace my spark plugs?
  13. Can someone tell me what is the clearance needed to fit a jack under a Carrera S for tire change?
  14. Speaking of the Bose upgrade. Does anyone have any details on the Bose option for 2006 Carrera S Cabriolet? I am looking to find out how many watts it has and how many speakers are there in total. I thought I read somewhere that the Cabriolet has one less speaker than the Coupe but can't verify, can anyone help? Has anyone seen any reviews on the Bose system in the cabriolet?
  15. Anyone knows what minimum life of brakes and tires must remain for car to qualify for CPO
