  1. Got my 986 at age 19. My second car purchase. A year later and I'm loving every minute of it.
  2. Thanks for the help! I believe it was mentioned las time I had the car in the shop that the push rods were brittle. Might as well replace them while I'm in there.
  3. Anyone have a part # on the plastic ball cups that have broken? Thanks for the link, the pictures don't seem to be loading
  4. I have a top assembly out of a 2002 which is in perfect condition that I'd like to swap my 97's top with. I've seen a few pages with info on replacing the canvas but not the frame assembly. Any tips? Also, there was a popping sound and my top will no longer raise or lower. The clam shell part that swings up still works. Anyone know what's broken? Push rods?
  5. Ok so it's been mentioned that I can get a Goodyear Belt for use in my boxster. Is there a specific part number I should be looking for?
  6. Hmmm interesting. You know, now that I think about it, I remember I was driving at night a few weeks back and I heard a popping sound and what sounded like something falling out of the car. There was no power loss or CELs and when I stopped to look, there was nothing wrong that I could tell. Could this have been the root of the problem?
  7. Ok, a few weeks ago I went to take the car on a quick trip to the grocery store. As I was backing out of the drive way and beginning to turn I realized that it was taking a bit more effort to turn the wheel than I was used to. Crap, power steering is out. Unfortunately I was due back at University so I had to leave the problem for the next time I made it home. I did so this past weekend and when I turned on the car, the power steering worked just fine. No problems at all. I checked the fluid and it was at max so that rules out the pump and any leaks. Thought I was in the clear but as the car got up to temp, it started making this intermittent scratching/sucking sound and I got a CEL with P1126 and P1124. No smoke, so I'm assuming it's either a bad AOS or a tube somewhere. Then last night before I headed back to campus I was going to take the car out for a quick spin again but the power steering was out. This time I got a battery weak light as well as the ABS light. Am I right in assuming it just needs a new battery and the AOS replaced? I have a 97 Boxster, tiptronic.
  8. I've got a strange creaking sound coming from the passenger side front wheel. I've been told it's the upper strut bushing, but I don't see that on the parts lists. Any help? Thanks
  9. I've actually found that my slips have kind of subdued. They don't happen as often as they did back when I first posted about it. I'll probably end up having it checked out anyway just to be safe.
  10. Ok, I'll attempt this on my own then. Any tips on how to go about removing/replacing this part as well as taking out the wheel well liner?
  11. Thanks. Now is this something I can install from the front or does it need to go in from behind?
  12. Replaced driver side head light assembly and I noticed the part where the plug sits above the wheel well is broken. Sliding the headlight in place pushes the plug back and out. I looked at the parts diagrams but I can't figure out exactly what part I need. Thanks in advance.
  13. I've seen the same thing on lots of 986 lights. When I installed some new ones on my car, they had the same texture on the inside. Not sure this is a problem, but it still doesn't look good.
  14. I was planning to do the same. I'll be interested to hear what they say and how much $$$. Thanks
  15. I have a 97 tiptronic with 127k on her. No major services at all. Just routine maintenance. Anyone in the San Antonio/austin area want to help me become a DIY'r?
