  1. Thanks, will have a look at iTrip... but I must admit, I tried one of these with a Gen-1 iPod many years ago and it did not work well at all. Has quality improved since then?
  2. Maintenance free? It may be. But, what about the charge? That's what the battery maintainer will do for you. Keep your battery very healthy. How ofter do you drive your car? Daily. No need for battery maintainer then I assume, yes?
  3. Didn't Perry just say: " I had removed my front bumper cover to clean the radiators, but it is not required to if you just want to replace the resistor."???
  4. To "autumnten" - thanks for your PM. I replied to it but your settings don't allow anyone to send you PMs! Suggest you change the setting in your "My Controls".
  5. Thanks very much. Looks like I'm in for a total swap out. Have read some pretty horrible reviews of BOTH the Alpine iDA x___ units though since posting. The local dealer is trying to get me to go for this. Looks like I'm using CDs for a while until the research concludes. Great help from both your guys though. Thanks again!
  6. That is some very useful insight - thank you! While I don't relish the thought of coughing up for an entirely new system... I was probably going to end up there eventually anyway.
  7. 94 thread views and not one opinion? Does no one listen to MP3 recordings in their Porsche... ever?
  8. Thanks Loren. I'm sure you've explained that more than once. Much appreciated.
  9. Thanks very much RFM! ...and the obvious question then would be: what does the "M" in front of an engine number mean? For example, mine is: M960366226604 Any other insight as to the meaning of the numerals would also be most welcome. TGIF
  10. RFM - Sorry, new to this... how do you know that? What database are you using to find this?
  11. BTW.... these cNet reviews of the iDA X100's newer/bigger brother (iDA X305) all say "stay clear!" as it has "issues" with iPhone MP3 use, despite all the Alpine promises.
  12. Sorry, not performance or cosmetic related... I have just bought my first Porsche (a 2003 996 C4S w 40k km on the clock in Singapore). The car is all stock top to bottom including Porsche stereo head unit which isn't MP3 player friendly. I hate to install something that is flashy/chrome as it will detract from the simple clean look of the centre dashboard... but I do want audio performance to drive the Bose speaker system. Anyone have recommendations on head unit replacement? I've been recommended the Alpine IDA X100. Great forum BTW :-) Thanks!
