  1. dominic, sorry to hear and see. probably somebody texting. it has gotten out of control. can't help you much re: what insurance will do/not do for you. Just hope it gets done to YOUR satisfaction. Be vigilant. Any Renntechers that can help our friend?
  2. impressive. congrats on driving the @#$% of it. hope she gives you many, many more miles/smiles.
  3. JFP - as always, your information is helpful and spot-on. Was wondering if you could clear something up for me. I can't remember where I read it, and what the rational was, but the article/blog post etc mentioned using the passenger footwell outlet rather than the cigarette lighter. definitely not as convenient. Could there be a valid reason for this?
  4. OEM replacements are available on any number of sites. forget which ones support this site but best to use those companies. pelican has OEM replacements (whole assembly) for 47 USD and suncoast for 42 USD.
  5. what about this? a bit more expensive, but the cans sure look nice.
  6. HAH. funny, and a bit scary. can't remember where i read about these sensors. anybody with any first hand knowledge?
  7. sorry to hear about your recent loss. hope you get her fixed or a new and improved replacement soon!!!!
  8. my 2007 911 S's TPMS finally gave up the ghost. from what I've read, 7 years seems to be about the max. anyhow, after doing some research, i purchased the product pictured below. anybody familiar with these? have not installed as waiting till i put new rubber on. definitely much cheaper, but wanting to hear from others prior to installation.
  9. I was advised that walmart carries a great battery for a great price. I ended up buying one for my truck and one for my 997 s. been a few years and so far so good. Ever Start Maxx.
  10. definitely the way to go! and you may as well build a relationship with your local indy. and if he/she is the one that does the PPI, they may treat you a little differently moving forward ;-)
  11. heck - i've been dying to take a long road trip in my 07 S. a shame you cant do all the driving and photo shoot in same couple days. here is a picture. i think she is very photogenic. 21k miles. arctic silver with terra-cotta and black deviating dash.
  12. Yes Suncoast seems to sell parts at or very near cost; and their service is always top notch. glad i could help.
  13. Hi gang, I have decided to start putting some time and money into my '77 Carrera 3.0 Car is in great shape and runs as she is. However, its' heart was removed/replaced prior to my ownership. It currently houses a 2.7 that is a bit tired but still serviceable. My goal is to find a euro Carrera 3.0 block so i can keep car as original as possible. Have been looking for quite a while and only ever see them come up for sale in Europe and Australia. I am not opposed to buying another vehicle with the proper engine and then making the best out of 2 cars. But needless to say, i would prefer to buy just the engine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am not going to put good money into the old 2.7, so if a 930/02 is simply unavailable, i will source a later 3.0 or 3.2 and create a perfect, clean, reliable car to enjoy for many years to come. Below are my two girls ;-)
  14. Ive had good experiences with Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota. Pricing always very competitive. Website showing OEM floormats for your 996.
  15. agree with JFP - do not skimp. buy a high quality car wash formula. good lubrication is key ya know
  16. Congrats!!!! agree with the white being a great choice. shows off those lines! which wheels?
  17. i have a similar noise. it is maddening. usually only when crossing train tracks or similar situations. and a 997-1 S
  18. um, your on a porsche site. responses may be a bit biased  what are your priorities? sounds like fuel economy is right up there. personally, i have always liked the looks of the RR/LR's. at the same time, a close friend owned a few Rover dealerships in the past and i cant even begin to convey the horror stories he described re: reliability. things may have changed, but new models with a change in ownership sound like a recipe for status quo at best.
  19. congrats brian. enjoy and hope you get many miles of fun outta her.
  20. I second the Michelin recommendation. definitely not cheap, but good value. I always cringe when i see a great sports car with cheapo tires on it
  21. big fan of michelin. have had pirelli on both my 997 and f-150 as OE. replaced with michelin super sports for 997 and ltx m/s 2 on the truck and could not be happier. yes, a little more expensive. but the quality and durability more than make up for any price difference.
  22. sorry to hear. hope it gets resolved and she is better than pre-incident. i always get perturbed when some teenage girl is tailgating me, chatting or texting on the phone, listening to music, in her $8000 neon. :cursing:
