  1. I've got a brand new oem one for sale $30 http://m.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=733998
  2. Removing cats will for sure increase the exhaust velocity and output of the engine. You're going off of some 60s back pressure/low torque wife's tale.http://mechdb.com/index.php/Exhaust_back_pressure_myth
  3. Hey all, I've started noticing really peculiar noise on my 4S tiptronic. When the car is first started after sitting for a bit and you give it a bit of gas to roll forward, I hear what I can best describe as a bike spoke clacker noise (3 metall sounding clicks) coming from the front, somewhat leftish area of the car. This happens only once and I cannot recreate it again until I turn the car off. Also the noise doesn't appear until I give it a bit of gas in drive (drivetrain moves); it will not appear if I'm creeping around while covering the brakes. I can recreate it every time by just turning the car on and off. Any idea? I'm gonna see if i can get it on camera. At 3 seconds you can hear it. Almost sounds like someone sticking something into spinning fan blades. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSe0sQ2uE6A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fIAvVFvkVo
  4. It's possible that you tore the harness someplace while swapping the motor. Also any chance you swapped the harnesses around by accident? Cars that have o2 sensors hooked up backwards (ie left bank sensor hooked to the right bank) get all sorts of misfire/rich/lean ODB codes.
  5. Trivial, open the center console container and lift the rubber bottom pad. You'll find one screw on the rear end of it. Uncrew it, lift the plastic plate it secures and voila.
  6. No hole where it needs to be, I had thought about going ghetto and zip tying it to the wishbone, but decided against it. This is definitely not a car one can easily work on, sure, once you know the tricks its ok. All about knowing the tricks. I guess you could drill it, it's pretty soft aluminu.
  7. If the control arm has a hole in the middle part, you can definitely mount the xenon leveller on it. It just needs a small plastic bracket.
  8. Random cluster issue has been traced to shorted fuel level signal wires before; it goes into the cluster unfused. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/8312142-post33.html
  9. Hey guys, I'm doing suspension refresh on my 110K mile 4s - I've got new shocks, front mounts, bearings, inner/outer tie rods and sway bar links for front and back. Is there any thing that I should worry about replacing on the back strut assembly?
  10. There are a million of threads regarding IMS problems, I would suggest searching the forums. You shouldn't have any blue smoke if IMS is the culprit. That being said, $3K for IMS rebuild is a great price.
  11. One of the 3 microswitches in either the handles or the door latch has failed. I take it you can roll the windows up and down with ease?
  12. That's for an empty, vacuumed system, right? My car definitely has refridgerant and blows cold... I jsut want to check to make sure it's got the proper amount of it and proper amount of oil.
  13. 2002 4s My car blows pretty cold, but i do hear some groan from the compressor - I suspect the refridgerant is a bit low and might not have enough lubrication for the compression. What are the high/low side pressures I should be looking at to make sure it's all topped off? Porsche replaced couple AC lines and refilled it about a year back; not sure if they topped it completely.
  14. Hi guys, I've come across a nice deal on a turbo suspension set - does anyone have actual spring rate differences between turbo and c4s spring and dampening rates? I assumed the rear springs will be unusable, since they'll sit higher on the lighter c4s... but the rest should be game.
