  1. Sorry to hear about your boo boo. :( I guess that you have 3 choices: 1. Live with the scratches 2. Have the bumper painted...cost $750-$1000 3. Buy some Artic silver touch-up paint for $19.95 at the dealer and fill-in scratches. Since I also got some mysterious scratches on my bumper, I elected option #3. It looks OK.
  2. I think that you paid too much. Next time check out Sunset Porsche in OR. They sell at cost plus 10%, no tax, and no shipping.
  3. Fixed the problem: I wasn't about to tackle changing the female receptacle, however, I took a rasp file and trimmed the dummy lighter to fit in the existing receptacle. Looks good!
  4. Did you get your lighter to fit? Mine doen't have the ring. It's my understanding that the white ring is used to provide light to the dummy lightet. Go figure?
  5. The "No Smoking" lighter plug doesn't fit in the stock US lighter socket. Any ideas on how to make this work without changing the female receptacle? Is it a big job to change the female receptacle?
  6. On MY2003 the passenger side mirror "down" is activated by having the key in the ignition, gear shift in reverse, and pressing the seat memory button.
  7. Yes, mine are bent too! I purchsed Techequipment exhaust tips directly from the Porsche dealer.
  8. I just put a set on MY2003. The tips that I purchased from Porsche look similiar to yours. I was wondering about bent pipe myself.
  9. I live in the SF Bay Area. What weight of Mobil 1 should I use in MY2003 996? Thanks
  10. Poursha, I went to Neighbon Porsche in Oakland. The shop called Carlsen, and Carlsen told Neighbon that they have only done 1 MOST installation, and it took them 5 hours. That installation must have been yours? My dealer wasn't too happy, but they honored the 2 hour quote. Thanks for all your help! Now, I can groove to even more tunes than before :clapping:
  11. UPDATE.... I finally got my 6 CD changer installed today. I guess it's not as easy as it seems. The dealer quoted me 2 hours...ended up taking them almost 8 hours. I am not sure why it is so hard to install. The tech said that there are no directions and the wiring diagrams are not clear. Poursha - When Carlsen installed your Cd player were you able to see the two orange FO cables and the taped wires going to the changer, as you look at the bottom of the player? You can see them on mine. I think that the tech should have used some flex plastic cover to hide the orange FO cables and the hard wiring. Bottom line...it works!
  12. Let me know if your wiring works. I would think that the +12V lead could connect to another fuseable/switched +12V lead. The more I think about it the +12V lead from the CD changer should probably connect to a fuseable/switched +12V position on the fuse block. I am not sure how much current draw the CD changer has.
  13. Porscha...thanks I may end up taking atrip across the Bay to carlsen. I have tried 2 dealerships in the east bay, but they don't know what they are doing.
  14. The 3 copper wires from the CD changer are +12V rd/gn, (grnd.), brn, and (wake up diagnostics), wh/rd. I have just a plain AM/FM/CD CDR23 unit in my car. I haven't figured out where the FO terminate. I would imagine there is a FO junction box, somewhere. I believe that the CD player has to be programed before it wakes up to ride the light!
  15. dwaynemosley You raise some very good questions. I would gladly pay the dealer a reasonable fee to install my CD, but I am not confident that they know what they are doing. I have quotes for 4-5 hours at $125/hr., but it is not a fixed quote so it might be 8 hours. There is no doubt that I can install the CD in 2 hours if I had the proper documentation. This is not brain surgery. :-) Also, I spoke to Justin at brandywine, and he said that their shop charges $200 for the install. BTW, I believe that you do have the right FO cable.
  16. Hi Loren, Thanks for the wiring diagram. I have a couple of questions: 1. Where exactly do the fiber optic connection from the CD changer terminate? Do they plug into the radio, or is there a fiber optic junction box? 2. The 3 copper wires from the CD changer are +12V rd/gn, grnd. brn, and wake up diagnostic, wh/rd. Where do these connections terminate? 3. Is there anyway to program the Cd changer without the use of a PST2? many thanks
  17. dwaynemosley I am going through the same frustrations as you. Even the dealerships don't know how to install. If if you could figure out the hardware installation, you will need a PST2 to code the changer. The dealer is the only one that has a PST2 to reconfigure your firmware.
  18. Below are all the P/Ns for the FO cable in various configurations: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=578
  19. You may want to check Raman's P/N again. The FO cable that I have is for NO Amp, NO telephone, C2 P/N 996-622-706-00 The P/N for the external amp, no telephone, C2 is P/N 996-622-705-00
  20. Thanks, Jeff Yes, I do have the right hardware. P/N 000-044-900-72 CDC-4 Changer and installation hardware P/N 996-622-706-00 Fiber optic cable kit radio/PCM with CD changer for C2/C4, not amplifier, not telephone I may take you up on your offer for cars day. Do you know anybody who has access to a PST2?
  21. Does anyone have a wiring diagram so I can install the 6 CD changer on MY 2003 C2? I was going to have the dealer install it, but after waiting 4 hours for my car, I was informed that they didn't how to do it. I had a estimate of 2 hours to install the CD, but the dealer said it will take them 5-6 hours, since they never done a MOST installation before. I know that I can do it in a couple of hours...no big deal. The only thing I don't have is a PST2 to code the changer. Any ideas of how to get the changer coded, other than going back to the dealer? Many thanks!
  22. I am trying to install a factory bra on my MY2003 C2, but I can't loosen the 4 #30 fender bolts to install the tab lock for the bra. Any ideas how loosen the bolts? They just won't budge. They are a star allen head, and I am afraid I might either break my wrench or ruin the bolts. Thanks
  23. Thanks...Loren I have the PDF version of the owner's manual, but I thought the dealership had a version where you could input your interior, wheels, and so on to have more of an interactive manual.
