  1. I had the same problem with my 987. After verifying it was not the glove box I found it was the rear trunk. I removed the latch mechinisim behind the trim and found the culprit, a lose micro switch on the latch plate. It had shifted in it's mount and was giving an erratic rear trunk closed signal. I was able to correct it with a nylon screw that blocked it's shifing again.. I live over a 100 miles from the closest Porsche Dealer so this simple fix saved using a loan car and drive that otherwise would have resulted. Summary: a little investigation and simple fix save a time consuming trip and I learned a little more about my car. The problem has not resurfaced in over a year. Good Luck
