  1. No, it isn't that simple, I am just an idiot, the main wire to the starter was hidden behind the brake lines. I didn't take the starter out so I didn't realize there were more than 2 wires going to it. It's fixed now and I am only out with 8 hours of my life.
  2. Does anybody know if the clutch accumulator goes bad often in these cars? My hydraulic oil is not going down as much but my pedal is really tough right when i shut the car off. I know it is supposed to get harder as you pump and empty the accumulator but right away? Thanks and sorry for the hijack...
  3. Hello and Sorry, MY 01 Coupe with Supple Leather Memory seats.
  4. So I went to my car yesterday morning and I found that my windows were all the way down and the car was unlocked. I found it odd but I blamed myself for not locking it and called it that. Today, I went back to the garage and again, unlocked with windows down. Now I knew something was up. It didn't end there. I started driving the car windows up and normal and all of a sudden my interior light came on and my windows rolled down again by themselves! It is like somebody is pressing the door unlock on my transmitter! I did a search and anything that includes the word window also includes window dropping so no luck. Is this common? Maybe a door lock relay or something? Thanks
  5. If I even told you what the problem was you would waste your time reading it. I am an idiot. Enough said. Thanks to both of you.
  6. Help. My Turbo wont start, there is no power between the battery and the starter, starter solenoid clicks but the starter wontturn. When I connect a battery directly to the post near the engine it fires right away. I am wondering if I blew a fusible linnk somewhere? I need the main powe rwiring diagram for it. 04 911 Turbo Cab US Model 6 Speed Thanks
  7. Thanks for the update guys. Ya I figured the plug thing a bit too late. I was quite surprised to find that the plastic part off the clock spring that returns the signal to the neutral position broke as I was driving. Now my question is, I put it all back together as I wait for my part for the "plugged" :) dealer but my airbag light now remains on? Do I need a Porsche dealer t turn it off or did I mess something up? Thanks again both of you...
  8. Once again, I am an idiot. :) I need the clock spring Loren. Part number and price by chance? Thanks a bunch.
  9. Thanks for the Pic Loren, I took it apart actually and what I broke is the return plastic on the clock spring unit. The part that returns the signal back to go. Do any of you know how to take off the upper clip (grey) on the clock spring? I think I will need to replace it. And I already shop and the plugged porsche dealership :) Thanks Guys...
  10. Wow am I an idiot... 2001 911 Turbo (996) US Model Thanks :renntech:
  11. Hey Guys, The other day I was making a left turn and my signal was on and as I did the turn I heard a plastic snap sound come from behind my steering wheel. Since then my signals work but the steering wheel does NOT shut off the signal after the turn. Loren, I was wonding if you could give me a column exploded view from Porsche? I don't think it is my cable reel for the ABS, most probably my combo switch, but I am curious, if I need to replace the whole switch or if it is a ring I broke or something Thanks
  12. Hello, I did my searches and found a bunch of stuff on this topic, I just wanted to know if anybody has the HOW-TO or factory manual telling me how to remove and re-install the rear window on a 996 cab. I have the new part from Porsche, and just need to install it. Thanks
  13. Hello Again, I have done a lot of searching in the past few months since my previous post and it seems I need more help than I thought. I have a 99 996 Cab. It is not as much shooting out smoke but there are all the signs of what I read to be the seperator. I called the dealer to order the parts but unlike the 986, I was shown that there are 2 units in a 996? Does the 996 have 2 units in the oil pan and 1 like the boxster as well, or does the 996 just have them in the oil pan? I am going to replace both either way, not too expensive, but I want to make sure I a replacing the right item. Help? Thanks in Advance!
  14. This is about one of the 10 things I noticed wrong with this write up. It sure doesnt look like you cleaned out the bores for the new case half screws. Oh well I'm sure the new micro-encapsulated bolts will still seal..... HaHa, OKOK. Please keep in mind that I wrote this stuff well after I took the pictures and did the job. Infact the main seal was out when I cleaned the whole housing. I did clean the bores as well. I just didnt think that I would have such picky DIY guys on my case :) Either way, I just wanted to shed a bit more light on the problem, which in my opinion is not such a huge problem! Thanks Guys...!
  15. This post is directed to Loren but I would love feedback from all owners. I have a 99 C2 Cabriolet with 57K miles on the dial. Runs excellent, fully serviced. The other day out of the blue the CEL came on as I was driiving on a cool night in Vancouver, BC. I took it to my tech, he hooked up the scanner and I received a P1128 code. I have done quite a bit of research on this code and I have no air leaks and the MAF is 4 months old. I am not ruling this out but the odds of 2 MAFs going are pretty nil. My tech reset the light and all was well for a day or two. I left the car for a day, the next day I went to start it, the CEL immediately came on but flashed. This happened for a few minutes and then went solid again. I tried to move the car, it felt like it was running on 2 cylinders andthe CEL started flashing again. I have done a lot of reading on this site. THe code 1128 is well versed here and we have checked for leaks and etc but one time I read Loren say that it could be a bad oil seperator problem. I kept reading and another member said he heard chirping from the engine that his tech diagnosed as a bad oil seperator as well. I hear the chirping, I have the 1128 code. Does this mean my oil seperator (at least one of them) has bit it? How does my tech diagnose this part? I will have him pull the codes again tommorow to see what we have but I beleive this is my last option. The car has been A1 for the last 20k miles so I have no quarrels with it. I just want it back to normal. Loren, if oyu can post an image of an oil seperator and maybe tell me what it does? How likely is it to have failed and how do you know which side has failed. (There are 2 right?) I just want the fix to be painless. Cost is not the biggest factor but saving money is always good. :) Any direction is appreciated. Thanks in Advance. Raymond
  16. I am sure most will agree, this is a sum of meny well spent, could mean the life and death of your engine. I did a do it yourself article on it so most people would get the idea. Take a look. http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto_porsche.php Good Luck
  17. Hello, Although this question is directed to Loren, I welcome anybody who has any info on the matter. I have a 99-00 Carrera Cabriolet with a Factory Hardtop. I have installed my hardtop for the winter rain season in Vancouver but it seems loose. What I mean by this is that it does not stop rattling or what I feel like is shifting. When I am in the car going over mildy bumpy roads if I put my hand outside the glass between the A-piller and the roof I can feel the roof bouncing off the front windshield frame. Does the roof have seals that are worn maybe or plugs between the roof and the front frame that are missing? I looked on the main latch in the front, is there a way to adjust it so it pulls the hardtop against teh frame harder? I am at my wits end without a manual. If I can adjust it can you show me how Loren? Maybe I am just putting it on wrong, it seems idiot proof enough... Either way, your help as always is apreciatted. Raymond
  18. Hey guys, On my 99-00 Cabriolet 996 I need to know how to change the B-Pillar moulding as the sun has deteriorated mine. I have the parts yet I have no idea how to remove the old ones on the rear quarter glass to install the others. Thanks
  19. Hello, A few weeks ago I posted a few how to articles on my site for simple things such as air filter removal, headlight removal and etc. Since then my car started leaking oil from the rear main seal and I thought since this is a hot topic with Porsche enthusiasts I am going to do a RMS HOW-TO. I did and it is complete: http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto_porsche.php I hope you enjoy it! Feedback is appreciated! Raymond
  20. Loren, can you tell me if the seat belt wiring has anything to do with my roll over bar light going on? I was driving along tonight and for some odd reason the light just popped on. Help? Raymond
  21. Just didn't want anybody to think I was out to spam and use thier bandwidth for promotion. I just love cars, that site has all my racing info on it with my honda's and now since I am working on my 996's I thought I would share. Thanks Guys... Also, I have an 00 Carrera 2 that decided to release its oil from the main seal :) so I will post up a how to article there as well. I will keep you posted. Thanks again Lauren et all...
  22. I really can't beleive this. I never thought anybody would need a how-to article on a headlight when I did it. HAHAHAHA Check it out ---> http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/996head...96headlight.php Good Luck.
  23. I have already seen an article in regards to a 997 RMS Leak. This thing is just blown out of proportion. I have a 00 996 Carrera that is leaking and has 27k Miles on it. I also have a 99 Cab with 56K Miles and it is bone dry. Just the luck of the draw. I will be doing a complete how to on the RMS in the next few days as I do my own. I will send you links. Thanks.
