  1. I visited my local convertible top specialist ( AAA in Costa Mesa, CA ). The little thin rope would not retract under the top when closing. He told me that it can be replaced and to make an appointment.

In addition, I inquired about the life span of a typical canvas top. The 987 -1 is a 2006 model, kept on the garage and. generally protected from the elements.

He suggested that it has about a year left despite looking OK, but not new.

Anyone have insight into the canvas top life span ? Just curious........

  2. I just had mine tested: The tech tested the two connectors next to the antenna amplifier with the radio switched using  a grounded test light.

One connector lit the test light; the second connector caused the speaker to vibrate.

After reconnecting, both AM and FM were good.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Hmmmm; I just had some limited service done at 70,000 miles. They recommended replacement of the fuel pump/filter. When I asked what that is based on, they didn’t have an answer. Well $1,000 worth of parts and labor needs solid justification.

My gut feeling is the pumps good for 100K miles.
And this was from a well known local Porsche garage….
