  1. I visited my local convertible top specialist ( AAA in Costa Mesa, CA ). The little thin rope would not retract under the top when closing. He told me that it can be replaced and to make an appointment. In addition, I inquired about the life span of a typical canvas top. The 987 -1 is a 2006 model, kept on the garage and. generally protected from the elements. He suggested that it has about a year left despite looking OK, but not new. Anyone have insight into the canvas top life span ? Just curious........
  2. I just had mine tested: The tech tested the two connectors next to the antenna amplifier with the radio switched using a grounded test light. One connector lit the test light; the second connector caused the speaker to vibrate. After reconnecting, both AM and FM were good. Hope this helps.
  3. I finally had the PCCM+ installed at Rocco’s in Costa Mesa. Glad I didn’t try doing it myself. The PO had made some mods that would have confused the heck out of me. Now, I need to find a home for the old non-Bose CDR24. Any suggestions will be appreciated; a friend inquired whether it could be installed in a 914
  4. I ended up ordering the PCCM from Suncoast in Fl. Just got notified it’s been shipped. Any tip about opening and sorting through the parts will be appreciated I have watched several uTube videos; these help
  5. The 986 spare worked for me on Christmas Day; one suggestion, have the locking lug socket handy.
  6. Question: is the bulb accessible from the front. Does the plastic lens cover pull off ?
  7. My red alert symbol came on this am. The message said lower left front light… I tapped the lense and the bulb came alive and the red warning light went out. How would I get to that bulb if I need to replace it ? ( 2006 987)
  8. That part doesn’t look like the one I have. Mine is for a ‘06 987 plastic , and knob shaped
  9. I need a part number for the small plastic knob-like speed nuts issued to hold the covering over the tail lights- inside the trunk. They spin onto a 5mm threaded stud
  10. Thanks. I'll do a bench test after the PCCM is installed. Should be able to tell.
  11. Thank you. Suppose I want to install the CDR24 into my 914. Will it work ? BYW, it’s not BOSE
  12. Does the CDR 24 require a code to reset ? I’ve had the battery disconnected several times and the radio was ok. if I sell them radio, will it be plug and play ?
  13. Who in Orange County installs the PCCM ? I have an ‘06 987 with the Becker CDR 23 (or24) am, fm, cd radio currently
  14. After a long drive the pump gave up. Plenty of water in tank. Is their a good DIY video ?
  15. Question: do rotors have their thickness stamped onto the rotor ?
  16. Thank you, good diagram. Just watch several videos on pad and rotor replacement. Are the caliper bolts 55mm torx ?
  17. I have the correct replacement rotors and pad; my question is whether brake pad sensors are universal. From both the Pelican and AutohausAZ web sites several brands are available: Serb, Sadaca, Pagid Do all these pretty much fit ? WPOCA29886U713292
  18. Im confused by the number of different sensors available and the price spread. For example: 2006 Porsche Boxster - Brakes - Brake Pads - Brake Pad Sensors WWW.PELICANPARTS.COM Brake Pads for 2006 Porsche Boxster : Brake Pad Sensors Are some better than others or is this a truly generic part ?
  19. Hmmmm; I just had some limited service done at 70,000 miles. They recommended replacement of the fuel pump/filter. When I asked what that is based on, they didn’t have an answer. Well $1,000 worth of parts and labor needs solid justification. My gut feeling is the pumps good for 100K miles. And this was from a well known local Porsche garage….
  20. Great feedback. Interesting point about your own testing of new brake fluid. I’ll stop by Autozone and see what the say.
  21. I my local shop said the best test are Test Strips. I dipped each into new and old fluid, waited for the strip to turn color and found the new fluid registered a slightly lower moisture content. The left end of the strip is for brake fluid; the right end for coolent. I did not test coolent yet
  22. I used a two prong tester similiar to the one pictured. I fist tested fluid from an unopened container then tested my 2-3 year old fluid from the Boxster. Results were nearly identical. See
