    As I’m sure almost all of you have experience, my plastic trim surrounding the hook and trunk release is very scratched. This weekend I was taking a closer look and notices that there is a kind of paint on the plastic that is wearing off. Sense my interior is black I figured I’d try and remove the paint leaving behind the black plastic. I did this with a Scotch Brite pad, lots of time, and very sore fingers. My questions is… Would this work on the center console as well? It’s very scratched and beat up and I’d much rather have the look of the black plastic then the scratched up black rubbery paint. I know I could buy a replacement console but the cost of a new one verses a few Scotch Brite pads and an afternoon’s time is hard to beat. Thanks for your input guys.

    Does anyone know if modifying the exhaust this way increase or decrease power? I know that Porsche uses this same idea in their sport exhaust, but would they tell toy if it actually cause a power loss due to a decrease in back pressure?

    I agree, why anyone would want the horrible stock unit the Porsche supplies, I don’t know. I do know that there are a lot of Porsche purists out there and they want everything to be the same as when the car came from the factory. That's why I’d like to be able to return it to stock if needed.

    I’ve been thinking about installing a Pioneer Double Din stereo in my 2000 C4. I have looked a lot of threads about the install and I don’t think I’ll have any trouble getting the unit installed. What I am worried about is cutting the divider bar between the HVAC control unit and the stock stereo. If I cut the divider out to fit the new stereo, will it be possible for me to ever reinstall the stock stereo and return the HVAC unit to their original locations? I’d like to be able to return the car to stock when I am ready to sell in a few years.

    Hi Everyone, I am looking at installing an amp to power a set of subs for my 2000 996. I have the Hi-Fi set up and will be leaving in the stock head unit and amp in. My question is, can I use the wires that currently go to the door speakers as a high level input for the sub amp? Also what color are those wires? I'd like to tap into them in the trunk off of the stock amp output.

    do you think i just broke one of the cables then? the brake still holds, the handle just has to go up a lot futher then it use to.

    I recently found some people online that are recovering various parts of their interior with Alcantara. I’d love to do this to most of my interior, all trim pieces, shifter, steering wheel, dash, seat inserts, parts of the door panel and so on. My question is did anything other then the head liners come available with the alcantara covering other then the head liner? I don’t want the car to be too modified when it comes time to sell.

    This morning I went to put my parking brake on and it felt like it some how slipped. I put the handle back down and tried pulling it again. The second pull had normally operation but the handle traveled almost all the way back. The brake is holding but the amount the handle travels is almost 4 times more then it use to. Any thoughts as to what happened? Hope everyone is enjoying their last few days of summer driving.

    Recently went to bleed my coolant and noticed that when I flipped the metal ring up to open the valve that the valve seems like it is always open. It seems like there might be a spring that would normally pull the valve closed but is warn out or broken. Can anyone tell me if this is just normal or if it is not working correctly? Also if it is broken is it a problem? Can I just get the valve as a part or do I need a whole new reservoir? My reservoir isn’t leaking so would hate to have to replace the whole thing. BTW the car is not overheating but seems to run a little hott.

    That was my original idea, vents. I did that to my VW and it did work very well. All you need is a heat gun and a sharp utility knife. I might try it this weekend. I'll post pics once i get it done.

    I have read about that kit as well. This would just be free way to maybe add a little better cooling.

    Hi guys, Just bought a 2000 C4 about 2 months again and love it. I do have an idea that I haven’t seen covered on the board yet. Has anyone thought of putting holes or louvers in the front wheel well covers to improve airflow over the radiators? I thought of this because I use to have two turbo cars that put the intercooler in the same location as the 996 radiators. One of those cars had louvers to help with air flow. The other didn’t have louvers but pretty much everyone drilled out the cover to help air flow. Would the 996 benefit from a modified wheel well cover?
