  1. I Broke mine last year and also lost the knob after attempting to keep it for a repair in the future. Bought a new button from Porsche (come in pairs, you get the clock one and the dimmer one too), stripped out the speedo head with instructions i found on hear somewhere, then drilled the broken shaft with a very small drill bit and then screwed in a self tapping screw (slightly larger thread diameter than the hole i drilled but quite long in length) after this i cut the head off the self tapping screw at the correct position that left the remainder of the screw at the same length required to match the undamaged shaft. Then i cut a straw and fitted it over the self tapping screw shaft and fitted the new button over that. Works perfectly, although it did take me a few goes at getting the screw cut at the correct length (had more than one screw spare thankfully!) and make sure that you take your time when drilling the damaged shaft as you have to get it correct or when you put the new button on it will not be in line with the undamaged one.
  2. Took my daughter to school about 2 weeks after i purchased my C4 coupe (in Feb this year) and stupidly went down into the the carpark that has a very steep decent and a lot of snow and ice. When i got to the bottom i realised my foolishness when i seen another two cars attempting to get back up the slope and another three or four abandoned as they could not manage. So dropped my daughter off and awaited my turn to attempt to get back up, the other two noticed and waved me on to have my attempt, possibly expecting me to have no chance! First attempt was not successful as i tried with the PSM on, on the second attempt with the PSM off i managed to get up to the top without too much of an issue! (although it was a slow proccess!) had a wee laugh to myself wondering what all the poor folks at the bottom were thinking when they saw high performance sports car reaching the top without too much fuss while they were all still stuck at the bottom! And this was with normal Tyres fitted, not winter ones.
  3. Many thanks for the help gentlemen, now seeing as i can actually change the plastic shaft, my next request is to anyone out there that has a spare one, more than happy to pay for the item, shipping etc.
  4. Need the part number for the clock reset push button after managing to catch it on my sleeve and then managing to loss it! I know that the rod the button pushes onto is broken but i will manage to do something with that after i get the button. Thanks in advance, Duncan
  5. Got my first Porsche at the age of 26, a 944 S2 1990 model year. Got my first 911 at the the begining of this year, aged 37 996 C4 2002 model year.
  6. As Richard says, would be about twice that price in the UK, sounds like a bargain to me!
  7. Thanks Loren, a wealth of information as always! will check it out when i get back home from work in a few weeks, any idea if it is possible to put the switch in if it is a factory fitted system?
  8. So glad i came accross this thread, always thought that there was nothing that could be done about the exhaust going quiet then coming back on a few thousand rpm later! I do have two questions for anyone that may be able to help me, i have the PSE fitted (obviously!) but i do not have the switch on the dash, car is a 2002 3.6 carrera4, the questions are how hard is it to fit the switch, as in wiring it up, and does this mean that it was not a factory fitted option?
