  1. On my 2005 C2S Cab the middle section of the window moulding that is attached to the top has ripped. What's involved in it's replacement? End user or does the top have to get disassembled? Thanks
  2. I just called to verify. No recall, but they covered it under CPO.
  3. Hmmmm Not sure that sounds right. Possibly New Country did the job at no charge because I had only purchased it recently.... but I did see that on the receipt they wrote recall. (Still waiting for my copy in the mail)
  4. The service manager at New Country was totally on top of this. He even asked me if I happened to be waxing the car. I got my previous car (Boxster) from Chip Hall of Danbury Porsche. No experience with their service dept.
  5. New Country Greenwich by chance? Tell the Service Manager I sent you. :)
  6. I seriously considered making a grounding cable. :) The dealer assures me that the replacement part does not have the same issue with static.
  7. I'm sure most tire comments will be pretty much subjective.. I think they are both great tires. I had both P0's as well as PS2's on my 2001 Boxster S. Hands down I preferred the PS2. They "felt" better. The PS2 may be a bit noisier. Hard to really compare. The feeling I had with the PS2 on the Boxster is much the same on my C2S.
  8. Always by hand. I am guessing the large amout of static was caused by using a microfiber towel on a cold dry windy day. I remember muttering to myself after getting a shock....
  9. I have a 100 mile drive to the dealer. Should I be concerned about the car not making it? What exactly does the unit control?
  10. This has to be a first.. and something that I am taking endless ribbing on. :) I'm wordering if anyone else may have heard of this. Yesterday morning I waxed my 2005 C2S in the driveway. Right after finishing I wanted to drive to lunch. Got in the car and fired it up, and all of a sudden there were dashboard warning bells going off, the exclamation symbol lit, and I received the dreaded "System Fault visit Workshop" error on the dash. After a detailed conversation with the service manager about the issue, it was actually he that asked me if I had just waxed the car by chance. When I said yes, he siad he was 99% sure that a static discharge had blown a computer located behind the front bumper along with 2 associated relays. He said he had seen it a few times previously. The dealer went ahead and ordered the parts so that he can get me going as soon as possible (warranty) I have an appointment for next Wednesday Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Seems too funny to be true. Thanks
  11. Not looking for more speed per se... just wanted to make sure that it was safe to use the 5 gallons I got as a gift. I believe the car wants 98 octane, so I figured it would have to make a bit of difference when added to 93 pump that is available here.
  12. Hi Bob Thanks; but that also turns off the entire PCM. I wanted to have the PCM screen active, but have the Radio/CD OFF and not just the volume turned down all the way.
  13. I confess I have to cry uncle here. The only volume set that I can find is the navigation talking volume. Isn't there a way to just turn the radio off and have the PCM on? I didn't see this covered in the PCM user guide. Thanks
  14. Is it OK (safe) to mix some Sunoco GT+ with pump high test in an attempt to raise octane? I don't want to do anything that might hurt the car. (2005 997s) Not having any particular issues, but a friend just dropped off a 5 gallon can as a "welcome to fast" gift. :) Thanks
  15. Hi Guys I just took posession of a 2005 997s Cab. I'm a bit confused with the PCM functionality. Is it possible to have the PCM on and not have the radio on? Currently each time I start the car, the radio comes on at low volume despite my turning the volume down all the way on the last drive. I tried using the Mute function, but that gets reset each time you get into the car. Thanks
  16. You guys were indeed correct on the door mechanism being the issue. The price for the repair here on the east coast is a bit more reasonable. Total cost $282 including installation. :) While there I also had my rims refinished. They did a spectacular job. I'd highly recommend Automotive Associates of Canton, Ct. What a great shop! Thanks for all the help.
  17. When I pull the inside handle the window goes down, but even with the door open as soon as I release the handle the window returns to full up.
  18. I did not find anything on the forum that seemed to be related, so here is my issue: When I start to open my drivers side door, the window retracts as it should, but as soon as you release the handle with the door open, the window goes back up. If you try to close the door with the window up, it gets ugly... Passenger door seems OK Possibly related: sometimes after I exit the car the lights do not shut down sometimes I'd swear that wiggling the key helps. sometimes I swear that shutting the door a few times succeeds in turning off the interior lighting. I have had the key switch replaced about 2 years ago. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks 2001 Boxster S US
  19. There is no magic juice I'm afraid. Drive with light foot kemosabe. B)
  20. I was charged $240 for the repair to my 2001 Boxster S. I wish I had found the proper thread before bringing in the car in. I feel this is way too much to be charging. Am I correct Loren?
