  1. Thanks for the help and responses...Birmingham AL is a flight away, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that, but Moroso is nearby, so I'll review both those websites tonight and see what will work best. Thanks again to both of you for your help, as I know I can really use some professional education on how to properly drive this machine :)
  2. I apprecaite all of you guys taking your time out to give me some feedback, I'm bringing it into a certified Porsche mechanic tommorow to have him take a look at everything. I have an aftermarket warranty with Warranties 4 Wheels, so worst case scenario that should cover any serious damage. Thanks again! Manny
  3. I have had my 01' 996 TT (US) for about 2 months now, but I still do not feel like I am switching gears properly. This is the first manual car that I have ever owned, so it isnt much of a surprise to me...but I would like to be much smoother when shifting. Does anyone know of a driving course that I can take that is tailored to my exact car? I am in the South FL area (Boca Raton). Thanks for the help! Manny
  4. I have heard this issue can range from very minor, to pretty serious depending on what exactly is causing this to happen...but my 01' 996 TT (US) has popped out of 2nd gear and into neutral 4-5 times so far, and I'm pretty concerned. Each time I was at varying speeds/RPM's (also has happened both accelerating, and decelerating). It has 24k miles on it, and it has a short shift kit installed. Any info on this would be appreciated, thanks in advance. Manny
  5. Its funny you should mention this because on my 01' 996 TT, if I do not put enough gas to fill it at or about 1/2 tank the fuel level display will remain all the way down, and the remaining miles will show '---' as it shows when there is like 10 or less miles left. I just began to notice this recently, and I do find it very odd...certainly something wrong there.
  6. Thanks for the help guys. I took it to a Porsche dealership and they told me that I was 1 & 3/4 quarts low on oil...I wasnt aware as to how sensitive the oil reading was...I do appreciate the help and quick response though! Thanks, Manny
  7. I have an 01' 996 TT, as of about a month ago my oil level was 1 bar below completley full. I just stopped at a local store and after getting back in the car and turning it on, I saw Check Engine Oil level on the screen so I ran a check and I now have only 1 bar of oil shown. I have been parking the car in my driveway, and would have surely saw oil on the driveway had the car leaked that much. What could've caused this? About 5 minutes before stopping at the store I was trying to pull out of 1st gear very quickly (it was raining outside), could i have caused some kind of engine damage from doing that? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Manny
  8. And what about if that 996 TT had a chip in it...you think those extra 80-100 HP would push it straight over the Bentley?
  9. I was on the way home today and found myself driving parallel to a Bentley GT. Due to a recent reckless driving charge (which in FL is a very bad driving penalty) I've been a little more humble on the road, but I knew this would be a fun run so we both began to hit it...unfortunately being it was during rush hour and the roads weren't very open, we didn't have a good chance to both slam it...But, if we would've, with him having a 6.0 L 12 cylinder and 552 HP, what would you expect? I have a stock 01' 996 TT...
  10. I just read more on it...its stated that they were both wearing helmets, which of course at those speeds is only so useful. Its horrible when things like this occur.
  11. Thanks for the quick response Loren. What can I really expect out of a reflash?
  12. A reflash shouldnt harm the engine correct? Atleast if done respectively and correctly...?
  13. thanks a lot man, i was really getting worried cause it was so drastic that i thought it had to be something internal...
  14. Hi everyone, thanks in advance on reading this topic, and any help you'll provide is greatly appreciated. About a month ago I purchased a 01' 911 Turbo, with 20k miles on it. I put about 1,000 miles on it in the first 2 weeks, just trying to really get a good feel for the car (and it was hard to stay out of it). About a week ago I began to feel like the car wasnt boosting the same, it just didnt give that thrust that it seemed to give in the past. At first I thought I'd grown used to the speed, but even after bringing a passenger in the car who was with me when I first picked it up said the same thing. It just seems slower. I took it to a Porsche dealership and they ran a full check on the car, and everything came up perfect. A friend of mine said that weather conditions in my area (rain, humidity, heat) can be causing this issue. If anyone has any idea what it may be, your thoughts would be really apprecaited cause im ready to rip the hair out of my head...I just miss the feeling...
