  1. Do you know the technique to remove that connector ? It is in the trunk, under the carpet. I am changing the headlight wiring harness.
  2. Hi, is Varsol good to clean up tools after using Porsche touch-up paint? I will be using a tool with a tiny needle-hole so I would like to clean-it so I can reuse the tool afterwards and it will not be clogged up by dried paint. Thanks
  3. Hi, my ABS light came on today, its cold and raining.. What is the best way to troubleshoot this ? Can I start by visually inspecting some components before trying to read the fault code ? As I understand I need a special reader to read the fault code ? Is it trough the OBD2 connector ? Thanks
  4. Hi, I am considering a new set of winter wheels. Is there any side effects on drivability if I don't put TPMS sensors ? Other than the screen warning ? Will traction control or anything else be in safe mode or something like that ?

To clarify the topic: Porsche has tires specs for the 2002 911 Carrera: Front: 225/40 ZR 18 Rear:285/30 ZR 18 The 4S are available in the following sizes: Front: 225/40 ZR 18 (perfect fit) (rear will fit?) 275/35ZR18 (rear will fit?) 285/35ZR18 => Loren says 295/30ZR x 18 fits so maybe this is the closest fit?   6. hi, the new Michelin 4S tires are not an exact fit for the rear for the 996 with 18". Do you think the other size would fit and not rub? Maybe 285/35ZR18/XL (101Y) or 275/35ZR18/XL (99Y)
  7. Hi, I am planning to put back the original OEM front and rear coil springs, because I don't like the H&R springs that the previous owner of my boxster S had put in. How hard is it to do this ? I already did the same job on my 2002 Civic. Will it be the same level of difficulty ? For the tools, I had to rent a coil spring compressor from the auto-store and thats about it. All other tools I had. When I looked at the Porsche Service Manual, I was a bit scared on all the procedure. Should I expect a lot of surprises? Thanks!

  9. Hi, I bought my first 911 a month ago, and now I am running into the first trouble! When I unlock the car with the remote, the hood also gets open... It is also not completely related to the remote, since when I drive, after a minute or two, it also get released. ( I was driving with a spare key that does not have a remote) Any idea on where I should start looking? The car was exposed to rain and humidity last week. Could it just be that? I think I will just remove the fuse for the hood release while I find the problem. Thanks Simon

  11. Hi, I am looking for the original connectors for the CDR220 radio. I just bought a 2002 911 but the owner upgraded the radio and gave me the original one. The only thing that causes a problem is that he cut off the original connectors for the wiring, and I cannot find this online anywhere. Does anyone know where I could get that? ( The two 8 pins connectors and the 20 pin connector) I just need long enough wires in the back to hook them up with what is there. Thanks Simon
  12. Hi all, I just bought my first 996 last week! Flew down to Raleigh, from Montreal ( actually from Burlington, VA airport is so much cheaper) ) and drove it back the same day! http://picasaweb.google.com/111263464809361858288/20100403?authkey=Gv1sRgCKSnydbZl4ftLQ&feat=directlink I did the DRL hack to pass federal inspection here in Canada, and I just removed it right away after. I might redo-it permanently, but with a fuse in between to protect the circuit. Perfect condition. Just need new pads & rear tires to pass inspection. I love it! Cheers! Simon
