  1. I've recently read and subsequently tested out the "one touch" feature of the convertible top. Speeds above 10MPH and below 30MPH (I believe??), the convertible top will open/close with a quick tap of the button. Drop below the minimum level, and "BEEP", you get a warning on the dash indicating your top hasn't finished opening/closing, and you're stuck holding the button down until the top comes to its final resting place. Now, I can totally understand and appreciate the need to limit the convertible action for speeds above 30MPH, but am I the only one left scratching their head wondering why the automatic opening/closing ceases once you drop below a certain speed? Time to find that work-around ...
  2. Keep in mind that Porsche is releasing the Cayman S. July 2005 Car & Driver is eluding to a non S version of the Cayman, sighting that it is unusual that A) An "S" model would be released without a base model, and B) the hardtop coupe is priced higher than the cabrio. Perhaps you can expect to see a Cayman base in the near future with a price point more in line with what you were expecting.
  3. Turns out the clunking noise was coming from the rear swaybar. A little torquing and voila, no more clunking.
  4. Does anyone have insight into what could be making a "thunk" noise as I go over bumps or around corners? If I swerve down the road at 10-15MPH, I consistently hear it, thunk.. thunk .. thunk .. Appears to be coming from the rear storage compartment, however it is completely empty. Is there anything that could conceivably come loose? Bringing the car in next week to get the source of this 'thunking' identified and resolved.
  5. Rod pulls out a broken plastic "backup" key from the ignition??
  6. I'm had .. I need the screen as well. Only have the "regular" tuner installed. update: Looks like just the parts for the retrofit are $4400 ... unbelievable.
  7. is that web address correct? looks like someone's parked domain.
  8. Was that 3k installed, or 3k for the parts? I have to tell you, these are darn near avionics prices we're talking about. One can find a nice moving map GPS with terrain avoidance built into it for not much more. If you have the PNs I'd appreciate it, if not for anything else than a x-ref for the future.
  9. Hi all, Took delivery of my new Boxster S a few weeks ago from what the dealer had on the lot, wasn't too picky. one of the things I noticed when hunting up and down southern california was that there were little to no cars (within the specs I was looking for at least) that had the navigation system installed. Has anyone had this system installed after the fact? A dealer close by appears to want $4k for the upgrade, which is juuuust over the $2600 Porsche wants for it as an installed option. anyone with any experience in this area?
  10. There is a setting in the "Sound" menu, think it's labeled "Surround" or something to that effect, and has three levels. If you turn it completely off, this should eliminate the effect of the treble fading in and out, at least that's what I've noticed. Regards
