    I went to German Auto Body to have them fix the bent sheet metal the transmission mounts to on the passenger side. Jon at German Auto Body recommend I remove the top, roll bars and sponge on boths sides to get to the bent sheet metal. Does anyone have photos on how to remove the roll bar and top. So Far I have removed the trim so I do see the 13 mm gold nuts that hold down the roll bar. but I don't know how to get to the rest. Also, Do I really need to remove all of that stuff to get to sheet metal problem fixed?

    I have the typical boxster top problem. Tried to take my top down. Heard a lound sound. Clam shell tweaked/bent. I forced up the clamshell then opened the six screws holding it down( I drove it like this for about a year and got lots of dirty looks from boxster lovers. I hated myself for not taking care of it either. :cursing: ) 1)I open the the screw on the push rod. 2) Opened the 19 mm screw on the V lever. I took a rachet and put a jack handel (which is hollow) over the racket to pry open the screw. It was easy with long handel I created. :king: 3) Pulled back to soft spong. 4) Took out two of the three 13 mm screws on the transmission. Now here are my questions. :help: How do I open the third scew? It is under the guide rail and I can't get to it. I have basic tools. Does any oneone have any pictures? I have read through most of the threads. I was also told that I need to replace both transmissions using 2001? type transmissions? I have a 98 boxster. It that true? I can see that my busted transmission is not flush like the other transmission. Can anyone recommend a body shop in the sunnyvale/san jose area that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

    Where is a good source to buy Porsche parts from? I have part numbers but can't find a website that sells these parts: The part numbers are: 986.561.279.02 and 986.561.480.01 My soft top will not go down. The plastic cap on 986.561.279.02 broke and the lever 986.561.480.01 is bent. This happened when I tried to lower my top, then I heard a loud sound like a gun shot. When I took the back panel the covers the soft top when it is down, I noticed these parts were broken and out of shape. Any idea what caused this? Is there a good site that has step by step instructions to install these? Do I need any other parts? What is the level of difficulty to fixing this?
