    A number of us have had this problem. Here's a link to an old thread on 6speed that addressed it. Sticking in gear Turned out the input shaft needed grease.

    Replacing the motor mounts with the ones in the x-73 kit is very easy.....no need to drop the engine....takes less than 30min.

    Maybe the sensor in the reservoir got stuck for a time when the level was just below minimum during the bleed.

    High silicone is probably from the gasket sealer used at assembly.

    Don, Did the test tell you which metals were high? My guess is it was Molybdenum which is used as an assembly lube on all of the bearing surfaces thus leading to a rather high content of moly in the oil. Some manufacturers (such as Honda in the S2000) claim to use a special breakin oil that they recommend leaving in for the full breakin period (it is supposedly high in moly). I have never heard of Porsche doing this.

    Nice mod to open your garage door by flashing your high beams. I posted the pics and directions in a pcars album. Flash to pass garage door opener mod.

    Did they powdercoat the inside of the pipe that needs to slide over the tailpipe? It's a snug fit to begin with so that may be enough to cause your problem. Maybe take a dremel and grind out the coating in this area back down to the stainless. Good luck, what a pita!

    If you haven't changed the pollen filter since new you'll be amazed at how filthy it is. This is probably all it needs. -Glen

    This kind of crap really gets me. Rather than take care of a small problem these idiots act like they're going to punish you for daring to do anything but put gas in your car. Post the name of the dealership so others can avoid them. Over on 6speedonline.com there is a thread you should read: 6speedonline It's a lesson on how to ruin your business very quickly. I feel very fortunate to live near a dealership with a great service dept. Barrier Porsche in Bellevue. The dealerships do monitor these forums and need to learn about customer service. The next time you want to drop 100k+ on a new car will you be going to them???? Post your story on 6speedonline and see what response you get.

    Hi guys, I have a 2003 996TT and was wondering if it's ok to jack up the rear using the cross member just forward of the rear sway bar? I've heard you can place the jack on the bottom of the engine but I have a jack that will reach the cross member and would rather use that if it's ok. Thanks, -Glen
