  1. Makes sense that it would but it sure would be nice to hear from someone who has done this. Since the trans is coming from a MOST Bus car (I Believe) does it not need the MOST Bus TCU to operate? A lot can change on a seemingly similar car over 6 - 7 years!
  2. Anybody? I'm about ready to pull the trigger on this trans but would hate to have it not work for some reason. So, to sum up: an A86.20 Tipper with matching TCU in to a car originally equipped with an A86.00. Thanks!
  3. Yep, definitely transmission fluid. I just changed it 3 months ago with the proper Esso/Mobil LT fluid so I am very familiar with its color and smell. Regarding the transmission I can get it's an A86.20 out of a 3.2 'S'. Will come with the TCU but is it all plug'n'play?
  4. I've got a substantial leak of transmission oil right between the engine and transmission bellhousings dripping out at the bottom in the middle. This is a higher mileage Boxster and from my research this seems typical of a failed oil pump/bushing/seal. I am exploring options of repairing or replacement. I have found a local guy with a tiptronic out of a later 3.2 'S' with verified low miles at a great price. I posted elsewhere wondering if it would work with the correct TCU but I have not seen any responses yet. Any ideas if that trans would work?
  5. Thank you very much! I'll look in to those suppliers. Regarding the torque converter removal I see you eventually went the BFH route...I was under the impression you simply push it inwards first to unlock it from the locating dowel and then pull it out, any thought on that? Cheers.
  6. Hi fellas, I'm wondering about the ability to swap tiptronic transmissions between the different model years and engine options. I understand that in most cases the transmission control unit will have to be matched to the corresponding transmission but with that in mind would it be possible to swap in a Boxster 'S' 3.2 Tiptronic in to a '98 equipped with a 2.5? How about the other way around ('98 trans in to '04 car) again keeping in mind BOTH the transmission and the TCU? If this would work I understand that there will be different gear ratios than original but could the ratios be so far off as to make the car an absolute slug (or rocket)? Thanks for any help!
  7. Back from the dead...How did this all end up? I am in exactly the same predicament. Did you end up needing the front pump? How was the torque converter? Where did you manage to source the parts from and would you happen to have a parts list? Many thanks to any one who can help!
  8. Hi Loren, one more for you please: Becker CDR-210 Model: R3297 S/N: W5018714 Many thanks! Roy
