  1. My lights were dimming prior to replacing the alternator. It also dims with the engine off and on, more so with the engine idling.
  2. 2000 996 c2 Also, I just recently inspected all major grounds from the battery/engine.
  3. Gentlemen, The weather is getting nice and I decided to do some work to my car prior to pulling it out for the spring. My interior lights were flickering prior to winter storage. I knew that my alternator bearing was wearing out so I decided to replace the alternator hoping to fix two birds with one stone. After I replaced the alternator... this is what happened... http://youtu.be/WVPycU_DVfE The interior lights still flicker (see instrument cluster lights and overhead light) and the engine appears to stumble in conjunction with the voltage drop. As you can see the voltage gauge it moving from 13 to 14v. Any ideas??? Update: Battery load tested good.
  4. Hello, I have a 2000 996 w/ 98k miles. I have spent most of my time on rennlist but i am in search of some more technical help regarding an issue that i am having. Here is a post of my main issue. Feel free to check it out. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-forum/575816-questioning-the-reliability-of-the-996-a.html But to sum it up. My car making a howling noise from the vent behind the gas door. It only occurs when i let my foot of the gas but as soon as i step on the gas pedal it goes away. It seems like an pressure problem. I've also had two break downs when i fill my fuel tank from below a 1/4 tank to full. The car will only crank and not start until i wait about 4-6 hours after fueling. I believe there is an issue with the fuel vent system. Any ideas would be great. Thanks! BTW: I've replaced the following items since ive had the car: fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel filter, carbon control valve, new spark plugs, cleaned the MAF and throttle body.
  5. i have the same exact problem. i am replacing the fuel pump today. i will let you know if the new one fixes the problem.
