  1. Hi there 2000 986 3.2 Box CDR-22 BE 4467 Y5028483 Many thanks
  2. For the record, the top idler pulley and the crankshaft pulley have been replaced and all appears to be well.
  3. All the pulleys and wheels still appear to be turning fine. I will drive over with care and keep and eye on everything. I've stop immediately if I have any doubts.
  4. Yeah, I'm basically not driving it. I will have to drive it about 10 miles to my local shop on Tuesday, but that's the only driving I'll be doing.
  5. My 2.5L manual Box has developed a nasty squeaking noise that appears to be coming from the drive belt / one of the pulleys or components on the drive belt. I've attached a short sound clip in a zip file (the forum would not allow me to attach the .mp4 file unzipped for whatever reason) recorded with the car running in 4th at low revs to keep the engine noise down and make the sound clearer. The sound is recorded with the cabin engine cover removed and the engine and drive belt exposed. It does make the noise when blipping the throttle with the car in neutral, but you get a lot of engine noise doing that, hence the on-the-move run with the car in 4th. Engine otherwise appears to be running normally and producing good power. Diagnosis, anyone? 20101105 184939.mp3
  6. Not the way I wanted to introduce myself to the forum, but the roof on my recently purchased RHD 986 Boxster 2.5L (1997) broke with a loud bang during lowering today. Pictures speak louder than words, so here is the carnage: Broken transmission on both sides (pls excuse poor quality cameraphone images): Not sure of the name of this next part, but it appears to be damaged on one side, where the white [ball?] joint connects to the roof (damage is not terribly obvious in this image, but you can see it's sort of pulling itself out slightly): The other side looks OK: Oh, and I also noticed that there's a support cable/rod with a ball joint on each end apparently missing on the right hand side of the roof (doesn't appear to be lying around in the cavity anywhere). You can see the left hand cable in this image (on right hand side of image): So, that's as much as I can see right now. I have a nasty feeling this isn't going to be an easy repair. What's the next step? Thanks for your help.
