  1. I would probably use Ericksson (zf). Around $250, is not bad.

  2. continued from bluejoker1

THe Porsche Specialist I went through did the job for $3,500 after I verbally smashed them for taking so long.

    Hope this helps

  3. From bluejoker1 on this forum

It took my Porsche specialist 6 weeks to work out the surging revs were due to the torque converter. Once they worked out it was the torque converter, they had one made locally and installed it and the problem was fixed.Porsche Center Melbourne wanted $6,000 AUS to fix the issue. They would use a geniune part from Germany.

  4. This was from El Acura

    Hello

Solenoid took 5 minutes to replace when the pan is drop... not a big deal...

Sometime it's only the pressure regulator #4 that cause problem to the transmission.

This job could be done with the transmission installed on the car.

Go to the ZF web site to find a service location near you.

here are some info on the solenoid

    ...

  5. My uneducated guess is the torque converter or a pressure solenoid, or valve body in the transmission. I sent you an email from Nat Wentworth from Ericksson. He seems to know his stuff. Read through that and see what you think. I am like you i would start with the torque converter. I also chatted with ElAcura from this forum and he had the same symptoms. It turned out to be the TC.I'll ...

  6. Nat Wentworth is the one from Eriksson (zf) that has been emailing me.

  8. I just became contributing member on here and I was able to download the 1999 Carrera Service Information pdf. It has allot of information in it. It is is 19 mb. If you want it I can email it to you.

  9. Does anyone know where I might find the answer? I am testing my torque converter.
  10. Here is an email I got and ZF will rebuild the torque converter for $250.

We can rebuild your torque converter for $250, in order to provide a price for a replacement tc we would need more info on the transmission part # (on green tag 1060-0x0-xxx)

  11. What is the correct or optimum stall speed (rpms) for the torque converter on a 1999 Porsche 996 C2 Tiptronic? Thanks
  12. It appears to be very thorough. If you see something that needs to be tested while running, let me know and I'll do it on mine. I am going to check the stall speed tomorrow. I was just reading about that.

  13. That is the one I was leaning towards. I wish we knew exactly which part it is to save having to do the whole thing. look at this Diagnostic manual. http://www.allroadfaq.com/downloads/technical/audi_o1v_o1vl.pdf

  14. That will help save some money. I sure hope this fixes it for you. It is a fun car. I have always wanted a Porsche and finally got to the point in my life I could get one (used 1999) and now I am having this problem.

  15. I had the same thought. Are you doing it yourself?

  16. I hope it's not as bad a we think!

  17. Any word on your fix?

  18. I'll let you know. Good luck.

  19. I have to save. Ii don't have the funds for it now.
