  1. Guys,

I apoligize for these questions, but we do not have any sophisticated body shops up here in NH that deal in Porsches!

I just purchased Aerokit II sideskirts from Champion and an '04 style GT3 front bumper on e-bay for my '03 Cab. I know the skirts go on quite easily, but I was wondering if you have instructions (PDF?) or photos for the installation of the skirts and bumper?

The bumper comes with the lower black chin spoiler; however, the guy I bought it from says he does not have the nuts/bolts that attach it to the bumper. He says they are the same part as the clips that hold in the wheel well liner? Any thoughts? Can I just go to the hardware store and buy some stainless nuts/bolts for this?

    Thanks,

    Eric

  2. Jeff & Pete,

Thanks for the tips. I ordered an aluminum look console today and should have it next week.

Loren sent me a PDF of the removal/install instructions. The instructions show removing the lower console including the CD holder/storage bin. Pete, in your reply you say you removed if for "convenience." Jeff, your picture shows you only removed the side panels. Is it necessary to remove the entire console? I'd certainly prefer not to since several of the pieces are held by clips and they have a tendency to break!

I'm definitely going to buy the right tools before attempting the project.

    Thanks,

    Eric

  3. Loren,

I have an '03 Cab and I can put the top up while moving. The other day I was in traffic and for the hell of it I pressed the button (no parking brake) and to my surprise the top started lowering. I was going no more than 5 mph. I did it again today; however, when I started going a little too fast (maybe 10 mph), a warning message came up in the display that I was exceeding the limits of the cabriolet top - so I slowed down and it worked fine. Is the top supposed to do this?

  5. Darren,

Kevin sent me an e-mail with an e-bay attachment listing new GT3 front bumpers. I contacted the guy (he's in Nashville) and he claims to import them from Germany from the company that manufactures them. Supposedly, they are factory rejects (paint problems) or sold "back door." The bumper is being shipped to me today or tomorrow. I paid $1,100 including shipping and the lower lip spoiler. The guy seems legit (he sells all sorts of OEM parts) and he has gotten positive comments on e-bay. Hopefully, I won't get screwed!

As I said, I ordered 19" CarGraphics from ByDesign. I was supposed to have them tomorrow, but the shipping got screwed up. Matt is trying to overnight me another set for tomorrow. I'll know later today. I bought the aerokit II sideskirts from Champion. I'll post some pictures with the wheels when I get them. The body shop I want to use is on vacation until the 14th.

Is changing out the bumper a big deal? The guy told me you need to remove the front wheels and wheel liner. I remember seeing pics of your install and I think the wheels were off. Any comemnts/suggestions? TIA.

Eric (soon to be GT3 look Cab!)

  6. I have an '03 cab and love the Carrera rear spoiler. The MASHAW is less than half the price of the OEM. I've heard good things about them. What are your opinions on them?

They sell the spoiler with the wiring harness to disconnect the spoiler light. If I take the car to a bodyshop that has never removed the automatic spoiler, should I be concerned? Is it a difficult job?

The MASHAW does not come with the cover for the existing third brake light. Is there such a part? Part number?

    TIA

    Eric

  7. Car looks great Don! My wife says you're costing me a lot of money! I just purchased an '03 A/S with G/G cab. Great color - easy to clean. I've already ordered 19" CarGraphics, aerokit II side skirts and an '04 GT3 front bumper cover. I love your rear spoiler. Is it OEM? Does the brake light in the boot cover get a plastic cover? TIA.

Loren, best of luck with the new board. You're an amazing wealth of knowledge!
