  1. just as an fyi. I bypassed both sets of wires for the clutch switch (not knowing which one) using a single strand of copper wire. Would it matter?
  2. So I just tried a jump with no change. The volt meter moved to 13.5 13.7 with the other car running, but my car didn't make a sound. Could it still be the battery or is there another place I should look?
  3. Horn works. Put the charger on it and it hasn't gone above 12. I have someone coming to try a jump start. I'll let you know what happens.
  4. I can understand a weak start, but no turn over at all? We're talking no noise when I turn the key.
  5. Hi All, After 5 years of solid starting, my car finally decided to act up. Got in as usual, interior lights came on. Turned the key and everything electrical came on, but the car would not turn over. Nothing, nada, no sound. After some quick checking here, I did the following. 1. Wiggled the key in the ignition (no change) 2. Checked all fuses. (all good) 3. Bypassed the clutch switch (no change) Any additional items I should check before scheduling a tow?
  6. just a follow up. everything was related to the MAF Sensor. Ordered a new one from Paragon Products and now all is well. Thanks for the help.
  7. Thanks Guys, Loren where is the ICV and what does it look like? And what's the part number for a MAF on a 99 996 C2 Coupe?
  8. Hi All, I've been digging around for an answer to my idle & CEL issue and have found several topics, but none match exactly what I'm seeing. The CEL came on about 6mos ago with p1123 and p1125. I was able to resolve it by cleaning the MAF with a circuit board cleaner as suggested by a posting here. I did not notice anything wrong with idle or acceleration at that time. It's now come on again. I've noticed difficulty at start up. The throttle response is poor right after start up. I have to play the gas just to get the RPM's up. In addition, once warm, if I step on the gas hard the car bogs down. If I gently run up the speed there is no problem with acceleration, but I can't punch it. I tried the cleaning and the CEL came back on the next running with the same issues. I found a posting that suggested unplugging the MAF to see if that was the problem. I can now hit the gas after the engine is warm and the car really moves again, but it didn't solve the throttle response at start up. I would say it's almost worse. Does any of this help point to the MAF failing, or something else? Thanks,
  9. Thanks to all. I was able to swing by mcvgums and pick his old ones up. Thanks to all that replied.
  10. Does anyone have a photo of where the bellows and separator are located? I found on here, but I don't really know what I'm looking for and one image is all blurry.
  11. Thanks Chuck! Alain, How would you like to proceed? Chris
  12. Hi Alain, I'm in Atlanta, GA. I checked the parts listed here and they should be 996.111.984.03 or 996.111.984.04 Left muffler 996.111.985.03 or 996.111.985.04 Right muffler What's the best way to get them from you? Paypal? Check? I've never shipped something like this so I'm a bit in the dark about how to get it done. Chris
  13. Hi All, My drivers side muffler has popped a weld inside. Anybody have their old ones lying around after an upgrade?
  14. He charges 550 plus shipping if you send your used mufflers back to him. http://p-car.com/exhaust/
  15. Hey Izzy, I actually have a coupe. My initials are CAB. Do you know anyone using the RSR mufflers that Robin makes? The testimonials on his site are glowing. He's been very prompt in his reply and has a return them if you don't like them policy. He's claiming a 3 hp gain while Fabspeed claims 10+ depending on where you see them listed. I don't want to open up the $ vs hp debate, but I have to replace one so stepping up seems like a reasonable option. Thanks
  16. Thanks Izzy. I started looking into new mufflers and found Robin info for his RSR mufflers. Seem to have a good thing going and I'm tempted to pony up for them. Either that or the Fabspeed cans. Any opinion on either?
  17. There is one listed out of CA, but it doesn't state for which side. Are they interchageable?
  18. Hi All, I have a drivers side muffler that has popped a weld inside. Dealer said it wasn't causing a problem, but the vibration at low speed is annoying. Anyone have one they'd be willing to part with?
  19. I have the PORSCHE 996 1998-2001 SCHNELL DUAL EXHAUST TIPS and they bolted directly on to my car. I think they look great. cab
  20. Thanks Loren. Odd that it happened today. Drove the car Friday. Pulled it out of the garage and back in yesterday. I've had it sit for 3-5 days and never heard something like this. I'll chalk it up to ghosts in the machine and hope it doesn't do it again. Thanks for the quick reply.
  21. Just started the 1999 996 C2 Coupe 16k miles and there was a loud ticking noise coming from the drivers side just past the muffler. When revved the ticking would get faster. I have never heard this sound before, and it's not something that anyone would consider "normal." Turned the car off and jumped on Renntech to see if I could find something similar. This is the closest post, but didn't know what the EGR was or how to locate it. Went back out to the car and let the engine idle for a minute and noticed the ticking was getting softer. Revved the engine and it ticked faster at the original "loud" volume. Decided to run it around the block and the ticking is now gone. Any ideas as to what that could have been? Should I be worried. Did the car not like it's first day of sub 50 degree weather?
  22. No water under the seat. Any other things I could check before going to the shop? Thanks
