  1. just to update my post. I sourced a replacement used sensor, (36 euro's from a German breaker) and that has cured my fault. You MUST recalibrate the controller after you fit the sensor, as the controller places an offset in it's memory and the new sensor will be slightly off. I have found that there are a few part numbers for the sensor, depending on spec. Mine had Xenon's and was a different part no to others also the Touareg uses the same system and sensors and that's what my sensor came off,be careful that you get the correct part number sensor. these sensors measure angle and you would not want the wrong one.
  2. I have what appears to be a faulty FL level sensor. When viewing Actual values my FL level sensor shows 0v while all others show about 2,4v with level set to normal. It throws the code for faulty level sensor 771 ? i think from memory. When checking the sensor I have 4.9v on what i think is the supply pin and 0V on the GND pin and 4.5v on what i think is the signal pin. Pins 5, 1, 4. If the arm is moved nothing happens volts wise. I get the same output from the plug when it's unplugged from the sensor. I am assuming the signal pin is "floating" If i plug the FL sensor into the FR sensor plug the actual values screen on my reader shows the FR at 0v . I am assuming my sensor is faulty. But i would like to know if I have missed anything before i go shelling out for another one. What should i be seeing Volts wise on the plug when the sensor is attached? I understand these sensors can be either PWM or analogue in output (like a VR pot) which is it ? what does the calibration do? Is swapping the sensor to the good side valid ? or will show 0v because it hasn't been calibrated to that side? Can anyone recommend a good source for the sensor as my opc quoted £168 !!!!!!! I have had a look inside the sensor it's basically a double sided pcb with a single SMT chip and a few discreet SMT devices and that's about it! I was suprised to note that the board isn't even soldered to the connector , it's just a push fit and relies on just interference fit for connection to the pins (all of which checked ok) Hope someone has a little more useful info and that my post makes sense !
